Van Tran Named Chair of Int'l Trade Committee

This just came over the transom from Assemblyman Van Tran's office:
ASSEMBLYMAN TRAN NAMED CHAIR OF SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE
“International trade is critical to California’s economy”
SACRAMENTO- Today Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez announced the formation of the Select Committee on International Trade, naming Assemblyman Van Tran (R-Costa Mesa) as Chairman.
“International trade is critical to California’s economy, supplying the markets necessary for the many goods we produce,” said Tran. “I appreciate Speaker Núñez’s efforts in creating this committee and look forward to working with him and the committee members to create more jobs in California over the next 10 years.”
The Select Committee on International Trade was created with a three part mission: 1- to collaborate with California’s business community in expanding import-export opportunities; 2- to promote better relationships with foreign entities, specifically to find economic opportunities for California businesses; and 3- to explore legislative policies to cultivate international trade while resolving regulatory issues within the state.
“An important part of trade is to make sure California has business-friendly policies that are supportive of trade and the thousands of jobs in California that this sector supports,” continued Tran. “We will work to clear unnecessary red-tape at the same time keeping Californians safe.”
The committee will begin work immediately, developing issues and scheduling witnesses for a hearing in the fall.

Assembly Van Tran has been a great leader for Orange county residents for many years. His devotion to serve and protect our freedom in this great nation is truely appreciated by all of us. I hope he will continue to good work .... he is our pride and joy. May God give him all the strenth, the courage and the protection he needs in serving our people in california. We all pray this in name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Let me get this straight...Jaime is now worshiping Van Tran? Unbelievable.
It worries me that both Tran and Jim Silva are on this committee. Neither can be trusted when it comes to pandering to special interests, particularly unions.
What are Tran's qualifications for this appointment? He is a lawyer and a legislator. Has he ever been involved in manufacturing, services or retail - other than his work as a lawyer (which had decidedly mixed results)?
What are Silva's qualifications for that matter? Wasn't he formerly a college teacher - before he got into politics?
It would be nice to see a real businessman on this committee.
Art:
There aren't that many "real businessmen" who would even consider running for a seat in the State Assembly. That is real businessmen with significant international business experience.
Other than that, you have a great idea.
I got to admit,
As a practicing Catholic and a pretty devout Christian, that post by Jamie is really creepy. Kind of like the "Ambassador" (Self Titled) of Our Lord Jesus Christ that would show up at the Santa Ana School Board meetings every week to speak on the Faith Based Abstinence Only Sex Education "Curriculum" they were trying to push onto our kids a few years ago.
Congratulations Van Tran. He may or may not have the experience but the man is smart. With a desire to serve, I'm sure he will learn and be productive.
Ok, I have to add this, I like Van Tran but that post from Jaime is just weird !

Hi Paul:
Whatever you do today, it will reflect into your 2008 GG city council's election.
Just be nice.
Art and Paul, I did't mention your names in my posting but God will bless your families as long as you have Jesus in your lives. We, as believers, must serve our God first in every aspect of our short lives on this earth. Art and Paul, thanks for your comments and keep up with good works.May God will bring peace and love in your family. In name of Jesus we pray Amen.
Watch Dog org. need to keep eyes on Van. Van is up to something. He will use this position to promote his interest not the people of California. He will travel with State expenses for his own oversea business. You will see.
Congratulations to Mr. Tran! In a Democratic controled Assembly Van must really be well respected by members of both parties to become a Chairman! I'm so proud of him and all he is doing for our community.
It's an upside down world where expressing your faith in words is considered "creepy" and yet liberal expressions of hatred towards God and Christians are found throughout cyberspace with nary a mention.

Assemblyman Tran will use his chairmanship to promote trades, not his own interest. I'm told that when Tran travel abroad, it's not at the taxpayers' expense so please check the fact before you make a biased claim.
Back to Basics, we have to stand up for the TRUTH ... Jesus gave his own life for our sins! And there is nothing wrong with christians sharing this fact to the public. Remember, our founding fathers came to America to worship God. Thank you for your comment and God bless.
Oh bless Van and give him the sense to call off Darth, Trung and the gang. Help him realize his people are completely ruining what should have been the best political story of '07, oh Jesu Cristo, blah, blah, yada yada...
RE: Remind Paul Lucas:
Sir, upon reading your post, I am reminded of the image of the priest in Vietnam who was just sentenced to 8 years in prison with a guard placing both of his hands over the defendants mouth so he could not speak. "Just be nice and keep your mouth shut"
This is America son Mr. Lucas has the right of free speech. This is not communist Vietnam and I believe you have pushed the envelope of the Terms of Service in personal threats with your post.
Mr Cunningham, can we get a ruling here?
Matt I dont appreciate the allowing of veiled threats on this blog. Can you please remind the poster at 5:59 pm that that kind of behavior is not tolerated. Thank you.
My friend poster under the hidden name of "jaime schroeder", in this life, one's motivation is everything and God understands all your feelings coming from the bottom of your heart. When you have called on his name "Jesus Cristo", he knows you wanted to say "Jesus Christ" and some reason, you did not...but again, God knows why. There is no doubt in my mind that you are a very passionate person with good heart. May God bless you and your family. In name of Jesus Christ we pray amen.
Paul:
"Remind Paul Lucas" was a bit rude, so I edited that portion in the interest of civility.
But it wasn't a veiled threat. You're a council candidate, and your comments here are in the public domain and can be used against you. That's just fact.
Well everyone, in the name of Allah, I will pray for you. May your lives filled with love, peace and happiness. And while I'm at it, I hope you all know that you tooo can become a Buddha. Peace !
Van Tran vs. Quang Pham in 2008, 2010, 2012?
Of course Van Tran is not stupid to use state expenses solely to travel abroad for his business. He will combine both state business and personal business. He will use his position to recommend or to influence foreign counterparts.
You people are so ignorant. The picture was taken out of context. The priest was cursing at the judge. The priest was interupting the judges. Remember, the judges did not ordered the cop to cover the priest's mouth. Let's be fair and tell the truth.
Joe
Of course the picture was taken out of context, and these Viet political guys in the US know it. But the picture serves as a great propaganda item,so you will hear them use it over and over again, as "proof" the commies are subpressing free speech. At the same time, these freedom lovers want to shut down Viet Weekly. Can you say HYPOCRITES !!!
Seriously, even here in the US, go to court sometime and start YELLING and see what they would do.
I don't think anyone is trying to "shut down Viet Weekly" by means of government coercion.
If a group of people decide they can influence public opinion enough to drive Viet Weekly out of business, I would applaud them for it.
Major difference between an authoritative state and the free market buddy.
