Janet Nguyen Countup: 50 Days Of Evading The Law
Posted by: Jubal | 06/04/2007 9:40 PM
Martin Wisckol has started a daily "count-up" of how many days since Janet Nguyen has failed to report the name, excess amount and dates of the three excessive donations to her illegal legal defense fund within 72 hours -- as the law requires.
It's both ridiculous that Janet Nguyen has failed to file some simple paperwork, and wrong that she is deliberately flouting a county ordinance. Some have speculated it's because she'd rather do that than risk the political fallout from the identities of the donors. But how bad could the fall-out be? Did she get a check from Dennis Kucinich?
Supervisor Nguyen knows the law and is choosing not to comply with it.
So in solidarity with Total Buzz, Red County/OC Blog will also keep the count-up: 50 days of evading county campaign law.

Jubal- you should start a contest, similar to your election-day contest, to see who guesses the mystery donors correctly. The tie breaker can be the date when Janet releases the names.
For example:
Donors: Tony Bedolla (Firefighters Union), Sara Ruckle-Harms (Orange County Employees Association), Larry Yellin (Orange County Attorney’s Association)
Date: 65 Days after the day she was legally required to disclosure her donors.
An excellent idea.
I am guessing that with all the pressure - she will file it by the end of this week - Friday!
Democrat's and Unions are pretty easy to explain with some good spin BUT $$$ from folks with ties to the current Vietnamese Goverment will cause fallout she is not ready to face. Only someone in the community would know who those people/groups are but my guess is that is why she is not filing the paperwork and if that's what it is, she never will file it.

When she files the paperwork, everyone will know just how in debt she is, and what little donor support she has will dry up... Thus, you wont see anything for a while.
I'm wondering if Carlos or Trung had won and committed the same crime, if you all would be harping on them as much as Janet.
Methinks not. You don't like her and will do anything to discredit her, regardless of what she does.
There is no pleasing the Red County people :-p
Ryan - does the same go for you with Carona then?
Give me a break, Ryan. I'd be blogging the same thing.
Janet Nguyen is knowingly and continually violating a county ordinance, and I'm a bad guy for pointing it out and asking her to fix it?
Earth to Janet:
(1) WILLFUL failure to file a legally required campaign discloser report is a misdemeanor!
(2) There is an open file against you and your campaign agents with the California Attorney General. Remember? The complaint which the OC District Attorney bucked up to Jerry Brown and his merry men of mirth is still being investigated.
Unless you want to become Paris Hilton's BFF, I suggest that you file your reports immediately.
Unlike Paris, you will not look hot in a yellow jumpsuit.
Flowerszzz, in what capacity?
Ryan said "and committed the same crime"
Thanks Ryan for being the first Janet supporter to admit she has commited crimes. I wish your hero Janet Nguyen was as honest as you are.
Ryan Williams,
Carlos or Trung WOULD NOT HAVE MADE the mistake to begin with. Regardless, Jubal's pinky is more ethical and honest than the lot of you combined over at Orange Juice.
Williams, you advocate allowing an "elected" official - Janet,to flaunt one of the county laws she was "elected" to enforce, simply because you like her and want her to employ you. Sounds like situational ethics to me. No wonder you, Pedroza and Nguyen get along so well...
Give me a break, you're right in the fact that I like Janet. You couldn't be more wrong in that I want her to employ me. After she was elected, I did not seek employment from her. I already have a great job and I enjoy what I do at work -- teaching English in Santa Ana.
Also, I am NOT advocating for anyone to engage in unethical practices... that was the reason I didn't back Carona last year. My question to the political void was if Carlos or Trung had been elected and made a similar mistake, if this blog would criticize them or just report it as if it was a "casual, staff error" or some other wimpy excuse.
"Jubal's pinky is more ethical and honest than the lot of you combined over at Orange Juice."
I don't question Jubal's integrity. He's a cool guy. We may disagree on several things, but I wouldn't put up a picture of him as the tooth fairy like Art did at OJ. I'm a little less childish than that, LOL.
That being said, if you really are calling me out on being unethical and dishonest, then I would think that to be a false accusation.
Finally, it's Trabuco... not Williams. Learn it, live it, love it, respect it, and move on. If you're unable to do that in a professional manner, then that's really your loss -- not mine.
From http://www.spanishdict.com/AS.cfm?e=trabuco
Spanish Word
trabuco
English Word
blunderbuss
Bluderbuss: an insensitive, blundering person http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=bluderbuss
That is the perfect name for you Ryan. I will remember to use Trabuco from now on. Maybe I'll just stick with blunderbuss. We'll have to wait and see.
Ryan - a mistake is when you do something by accident......what she is now doing is intentionally not filing a simple piece of paper, listing the names of those who gave over the limit. That is no mistake.....
A blunderbuss (aka Trabuco) is a muzzle-loading firearm with a flared, trumpet-like barrel which discharges lead shot upon firing. It is the predecessor to the shotgun.
That's the wikipedia description. Trabuco DOES NOT mean an insensitive person. Aye, learn some Spanish mijo. :-p
Methinks so.
