AD73 Watch: Sheriff Carona Endorses Diane Harkey

MAYOR DIANE HARKEY ENDORSED BY ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF MICHAEL CARONA FOR THE 73RD ASSEMBLY DISTRICT
Orange County (CA)--- Dana Point Mayor Diane Harkey announced today that she has been endorsed by Orange County Sheriff Michael Carona for the 73rd California State Assembly District Republican Primary election in June of 2008.
"I endorse Diane Harkey for State Assembly because she makes public safety her number one priority and wants to make sure we keep criminals off our streets," Said Carona. "She will work in Sacramento to give us the tools to fight crime and protect innocent victims."
“It is an honor to be endorsed by Orange County Sheriff Carona,” said Harkey. “I will fight the liberal’s attempts in Sacramento to weaken our criminal laws and work to make sure that law enforcement has the resources they need to insure that we keep criminal off our streets.”
Mayor Harkey is also endorsed by Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, who serves as her Honorary Campaign Chairman, and the entire Orange County Republican Assembly delegation. As well as, Orange County Supervisors Pat Bates, Chris Norby, Bill Campbell, Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas and Orange County Treasurer Chriss Street.
The 73rd Assembly District includes the cities of Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, Laguna Hills, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente, Oceanside and Camp Pendleton.
That means me and a whole lot of other people WILL NOT be voting for Diane.

The real import of this endorsement is that Carona is doing it even though Harkey recently fired a Mimi Walters protege (April O'Connor) from the Dana Point Planning Commission and instead hired Micelle Brough, who supported Bill Hunt over Mike Carona for Sheriff.

No, the real import of this endorsement is that everyone knows Carona is a rascal (I'm being polite) and Harkey chose to use his endorsement anyway. Even a lot of people who voted for Carona said the Hunt fiasco was the last straw.This speaks very poorly towards her sense of ethics, not to mention her political sense.
