Here's some video I took today with the handy Red County-cam of the goings-on at La Plaza De Las Banderas in SanTana, in no particular chronological order.
Above are some Santa Ana police officers -- or as Art Pedroza calls them, "stormtroopers" -- standing on the running boards of this Suburban as it leaves to follow the protesters as their procession snakes through downtown Santa Ana around 4:00 p.m.
Here's how the scene looked when I arrived at 2:30 p.m.
After some haranguing by a few organizers, the protesters took a warm-up march around the plaza:
Four members of the Santa Ana City Council were there at the same time I was (according to Total Buzz, Councilman Sal Tinajero showed up later) and each took a turn at the microphone. Mayor Miguel Pulido went first:
He was followed by Councilwoman Michele Martinez in her trademark white pantsuit:
Tall Councilman David Benavides was next up to harangue the crowd...
...followed by Councilman Vince Sarmiento, who failed to pay learn from Michele Martinez's outstanding demonstration of the public speaking maxim, "You can't be brief and bad."
