This is at least the second time a proposed building site in Fullerton has been totally destroyed by fire in the last two years (Sunny Hills Racqetball Club). I'm not a conspiracy theorist but it sounds fishy to me.
When the racquetclub burned down, it effectively squashed the neighbor's ideals of retaining the recreational use. After the fire, it was approved to become senior apartments.
The Olson Co. was running into a lot of opposition from City staff who was trying to force them to keep the "historical" aspects of the Kohlenberger building which made them apply for variances, but I think the Council recently approved the project.
I guess Olson Co. has to redesign their plans now.
(Don't hate me for saying this) Is there a secret arsonist club in Fullerton? Is the Fox Theatre next?
