Disney Turns In Referendum Signatures

Disney/SOAR forces turned in their referendum signatures this morning -- four working days ahead of the 5:00 p.m. March 24 deadline. That would seem to indicate they believe they have at least 13,000 valid signatures to qualify the referendum.
The next step is for the Anaheim City Clerk to verify the signatures. I believe the ROV has, statutorily, 30 days in which to complete.
On to the next phase of this battle!
UPDATE (12:56 p.m.): I just spoke with Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley, who had just heard from the Anaheim City Clerk -- who has asked the ROV's office to handle the signature verification.
Neal said the Anaheim City Clerk will deliver about 22,000 signatures, plus 2,300 rescission cards (cards signed by voters who had signed the referendum, asking to have their signature removed).
Neal said his office will start the raw count tomorrow, i.e. they'll go through the petitions and rescissions cards total up the signatures, and will probably begin the verification on Wednesday. Neal figures it will take them a a couple weeks to finish.
[Full disclosure: I'm a member of the consultant team for the SunCal project]

Wonder if Suncal realizes that of the 2300 recission cards turns in that 3/4ths of those that signed did not sign the petition, were not citizens, and/or did not live in Anaheim. The sleazy tactics that they used by telling people that they were supporting affordable housing was deplorable.
Of course the people getting the signatures did not really care who signed as they were getting paid just to get signatures and the fact that only 2300 people signed them tells me that this will get on the ballot and this is really what scares Suncal. The people of Anaheim will see through their deceptive lies and realize that the Anaheim Resort brings in 50% of our tax revenues, and that any kind of housing simply does not belong in the Anaheim Resort. Power to the Voters.
"Wonder if Suncal realizes that of the 2300 recission cards turns in that 3/4ths of those that signed did not sign the petition, were not citizens, and/or did not live in Anaheim."
And you know that exactly how, Stan?
"Of course the people getting the signatures did not really care who signed as they were getting paid just to get signatures"
And wouldn't that also apply to the Disney petition circulators?
Stan, that is one of the most ridiculous comments I have seen here in while.
