This came over the transom a few days ago from Senator Tom Harman:
HARMAN INTRODUCES LEGISLATION THAT GIVES BACK TO MILITARY PERSONNEL
Sacramento—Senator Tom Harman (R--Huntington Beach) today introduced SB 374, which, if enacted will require that any board, commission, or bureau overseen by the California Department of Consumer Affairs waive all fees for any professional license issued under the regulation of the department for any active member of the Armed Forces of the United States, or any spouse of that member.
“Veterans are vital to our community; they bring dedication, leadership and perseverance into our society,” said Harman. “By making it easier for these men and women to start a business, not only do we say “thank you” for sacrificing, but by improving California’s business climate, we will strengthen our economy.”
“As a Veteran myself, I have seen the sacrifice that men and women give to serve our great country,” Harman continued. “It is only through the service and sacrifice of these brave men and women that our country continues to remain strong. SB 374 is a modest approach to give back to those who give so much.”
The bill now awaits committee assignment.
