As part of our ongoing challenge to turn Florida and the rest of our country red, I am proud to announce Operation: ¿Qué Pasa USA?  We are all well aware that the key to winning future elections is to embrace the Hispanic community.

Last November, we saw that the overwhelming majority of Hispanics voted for President Obama. Why? I'll tell you why. They, as many others, were misinformed. Let's forget about all of the traditional election time rhetoric. This important voting block is not aware of what the Republican Party stands for.

For those of you out there that don't know what I look like, or can't tell by my name , here is a little FYI, I happen to be Hispanic. I am Colombian-American. And I am here legally! Most people may be shocked to know that the majority of Latin Americans are Conservative.  Like in other countries, Colombia has several political parties. The two main parties are the Liberal and Conservative parties. Now there's a surprise.

Along with these groups there are several more that lean, uhh towards the left. You can call these parties Socialists, Communists, or whatever. The Liberal party joined Socialist International. This speaks volumes about the Liberal Party in Colombia.

So, as many people from these countries immigrate,legal or not, into the United States, they bring with them strong political ties. Like I mentioned before, most share our conservative principles and values.

All, if not a large majority, of these immigrants have a terrible misconception about the Republican Party. But lets give credit to the GOP, they have been clueless in trying to figure out how to reach out  to Hispanics. Hispanics seem to register Democrat simply because the word democrat is derived from the word Democracy. So, Hispanics are wanting to be part of a democracy, register as Democrats.

They key to winning the hearts, and eventually the votes, of the largest growing voter block in the country is to address what is near and dear to Hispanics. Through my organization the Conservative Republican Alliance(CRA), we have translated our core principles into spanish. Many immigrants continue to struggle to learn and understand  our complex language.This I know because, as my parents are fluid in both spanish and english, they continue to have difficulties understanding and speaking the language-even after 40 years!

 I am a huge proponent for english being the official language of the United States. If you are going to immigrate to our country, you better learn the language!

I personally have had great success converting Hispanic Democrats(all here legally) over to the Republican Party.We have a great opportunity here! By informing these immigrants about our "true conservative principles," we can then dispel any and all of their misunderstandings about our party.

This is a very attainable goal.

CRA - Operation Que Pasa?

Your statement, "As part of our ongoing challenge to turn Florida and the rest of our country red" is confusing, and to me raises a flag, a RED flag sporting a yellow hammer and sickle, or the yellow on red flag of China, which obviously is not your intention.  Yours is likely the more recent meaning in which red is the Republican color on the voter map, as opposed to blue for Democrat.

Your effort to inform HIspanics of the conservative Republican party is admirable, yet complicated by the fact that this party is split into two factions represented by the older conservative Republicans who hold that their party has betrayed them, and the newer Neocon or RINO (Republican In Name Only) group that held sway during the last election.  Unfortunately, too many Republican voters have unwittingly moved their allegience throughout the years to whomever currently represents the party, from Reagan to Bush Sr. to G.W. Bush to McCain, despite the party's core drifting further and further from the U.S. Constitution.

Fortunately, there are many efforts under way to return American government to the U.S. Constitution, and to stand for limited central government; to bolster the role of the states; and to re-populate the Republican Party leadership ranks with  individuals of more conservative thought.  We need to increase these efforts.

It would be most helpful if the Hispanics favoring conservative government were to seek out and join those local organizations that are most apt to promote conservative causes and candidates, of which there are many; and then to vote for the candidate, rather than the party, if that becomes necessary in order to clarify one's support.

Meanwhile, I highly recommend CRA members look into CONTINENTAL CONGRESS 2009 (this is NOT a ConCon or Constitutional Convention) consisting of three delegates from each state elected by their populations this September 19th, to convene November 9th - 24th, to cite and publically broadcast the plethora of U.S. government abuses and finally to "decide what peaceful, legal steps can be taken to bring about compliance with our Freedom documents," all of which is being sponsored by www.GiveMeLiberty.org (please check their website for more information and to learn about nominating and voting for candidate delegates).  Everybody is welcome!

Republican Turnaround

Now here is a Republican activist with some excellent thoughts.  Hopefully, those at the National Republican Party are not still asleep at the wheel and will get Mr. Manjarres and others like him from across the spectrum involved.

Great Hispanic Outreach

Yes, at voter registration after swear-in ceremonies, folks wanted to register Democrats because they believed in Democracy.

While GOP values are Hispanic values, the Democrats only speak about give-aways and immigration.

No Hispanic would vote for a party that undermines faith, family values and life issues.

We need to bring up which party truly speaks for the them.

Count on me to spread the word on "Que Pasa USA?"

Think before you speak!

          Mr. Palmenteri  you need to think & do your homework before you speak! I know Javier or (Javi) as you put it. And what you say about him is not true at all. This man volunteers his time to canidates by making phone calls passing out information and facts about the republican party. Going door to door talking to people about joining the republican party. Registers people to vote. Speaks to endless amount of hispanics to join the party as well goes to several events to sign wave & protest against Obama. Stood with the jewish people & protested against the palestinian protesters in miami that turned into a fist fight wich I happend to be there next to his side. Goes to airports to greet soldiers that just came back from Iraq. Donates to conservative canidates.Buy's his own gas & drives all over florida to speak to several org's about our party & our canidates. Fights the RINO'S in our party more than any person I have ever met and your Javi volunteers his time to RED COUNTY and happens to get more comments than any  bloger here! I might not allways agree with Javier but this guy happens to be one of the hardest working people that fights for our community & our party. More than any other person  I have ever seen! And people  fear him! Why? Because they know he gets sh- - done! And I can prove it! He has more guts than you have in your little pinke.What do you do little coward that wont even give his first name? Do me a favor... Stop trying to impress your boyfriend it's not working! And think & do your homework before you speak!

JAVIER MANJARRES - DEDICATED REPUBLICAN

Javier Manjarres is one of the most dedicated Republicans I have ever met. He is a tireless worker and volunter. While you may not always agree with his ideas or his methods, there is never a doubt that he is dedicated to the Party of Lincoln and the basic beliefs we all share:

* Small Government;

* Low Taxes;

* Individual freedom;

* Strong National Defense.

In a political battle, I am glad to have him by my side.

America is a Republic NOT a Democracy

Just want to make sure Don understands that Communism, Marxism, Nazism, Fascism, Imperial Japan and radical Islam are on the left of the political power spectrum. To read more about political power versus political parties read my article "Its about political power, not political parties".

After you read this then comment about Red flags with hammers and sickles.

GOOD TO SEE PROGRES,WE NEED MORE....IN ORDER TO WIN,

i think we need to do more than,just a news paper in Spanish

I THINK , WE AS CONSERVATIVES,WE NEED TO EDUCATE OUR HISPANIC COMMUNITY,

MAYBE OFFER ENGLISH AND CITIZEN CLASSES,JUST AS AKORN DOES FOR THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITIES,

BY EDUCTION THE KEY, WE CAN TEACH THEM ABOUT OUR SECOND AMENDMENT, THE FOUNDERS OF OUR CONTITUTION,

WHY OUR VALUES ARE IMPORTANT, THEY ARE PUMPED WRONG INFORMATION,BY THE SPANISH CHANNELS,THAT IN TURN ARE OWNED

THE STATE RUN MEDIA(NBC), THAT PAINTS CONSERVATIVES AS RACIST,

I MYSELF AN IMMIGRANT, TALK ON A DAILY BASIS,TO MANY HISPANICS  TO WHY SOTO MAYOR IS EVIL(MOST UNDERSTAND THEY DON T WANT CASTRO

OR CHAVEZ ON THE SUPREME COURT,THERE HISPANIC,THE SPANISH STATIONS DO ANYTHING TO TARNISH REPUBLICANS.........

NEVER TALK ABOUT HOW RONALD REGAN GAVE AMNESTY, YET GIVE CREDIT TO OBAMA,

HOW IN HONDURAS OBAMA BACKED THE MARXIST LEADER,MOST ARE ANTI COMMUNIST,EVEN THE ONE THAT WERE COMUNIST BACKED HOME

I BELIEVE,WE CAN COMBAT,OBAMAS MARXIST AGENDA, BY EDUCATING OUR FUTURE CITIZENS,IF NOT WE ARE LOST,JUST AS HAPPENED IN VENEZUELA, CUBA, ARGENTINA,MANY MORE.......EDUCTION THE KEY....

WE ALSO, NEED TO STOP, OUR INFITING, BE TRUE TO OUR SELFS,NOT LET THE CURRENT MARXIST AGENDA TO SUCCED

I spent a year living in

I spent a year living in Southern California amongst many Mexican Americans.  The pervasive attitude is that the Republicans are anti-immigrant.  Not just against illegal immigrants, but anti Hispanic.  This is a false preconception on their part.  I encountered so many times the attitude that Republicans are against Hispanics.  This attitude perpetuates throughout the Mexican American community and if one were to try to be a Republican, it would be met with disgust that you are abandoning your Mexican roots.  This is a perception that has to change.  This is something that was missing from your article.  The Republican Party has to do appropriate marketing to this group.

need for LEGAL immigrants to have a lobby

I hear from legal immigrants and see artilces like yours and wonder why legal immigrant voices cannot be heard enough especially when it comes to the immigration debate. Of course I don't wonder why the MSM isn't reporting your opinions on the matter, but you'd think that within your communities the elected officials might want to listen.

I went to the tea party in NYC and one man had a sign I could not forget. It was one of the most original and hard hitting. The man was from China, the sign read: "If I wanted to be a commie, I'd have stayed in China".. he was proud to pose for pictures and wanted the world to see it. There were Russian, Polish and S. American immigrants that made up a good portion of those who attended.

I thought of a great group. I can't start it cause I am third generation American  but is would include legal immigrants from around the world that came to the US because we weren't like the places they ran away from. I tried to come up with an acronym for  " legal immigrants against socialism"  or "Immigrants for the American way" but I stink at that sort of thing.. The letters should spell out a great word though, something that make sense, something that represents the group..

I think legal immigrants need to organize and really need to have their voices heard. thank you for the article and thanks for listening..

a few thoughts

There is a major problem with immigration right now.  Our great country is suffering because its national sovereignty is not being honored.  There is a major assault on our Judeo-Christian traditional values.  This is commonly known as the culture wars.  At the same time our borders, language, and culture are under attack from foreigners (aliens) entering our country illegally and/or over staying their visas.  With the attacks of 9/11 the problem of undocumented immigration burst on to the fore-front as a major national security issue.  We can not allow tens of millions of undocumented illegal foreign aliens from other countries to simply enter and exit our country any time they want.  In recent years Hispanics from several Latin American countries have rallied for immigration reform because they are in our country undocumented yet holding down steady jobs and making contributions to our country.  Unfortunately their rallying has brought negative attention to themselves.  They have been picked out as a major cultural and geo-graphic group who has conspired (with the help of the Mexican government) to break in to our country.  The truth is illegal Hispanics are only one half of all the estimated 50 million illegal aliens in America.  The rest are from Europe and Asia.  However, at a time of deep national crisis, a war on terror, and a deep international recession our country can not afford a lax policy on border enforcement.  All individuals who are visiting or working in America must be documented and legally check by border patrol and customs to make sure they are not terrorists, criminals, or infected with deadly diseases.  This is not a policy of intolerance, but rather it is a requirement of any severing government that wishes to protect its homeland during a time of great struggle.  Two years ago the republicans tried to pass a comprehensive reform bill that would reward illegal aliens for breaking in to our country.  The legislation was defeated in the congress.  As a result of that defeat many illegal Hispanics came to believe the republic conservative base did not like them.  The democrats seize on this and ran a campaign designed to lead illegal Hispanics that they would be rewarded if they voted for Obama.  They promised the Hispanics that they would be given free health-care and citizenship and job and home if they became democrats.  Sadly, many of them illiterate and uneducated fell for the democrats trick and voted for a democratic presidential nominee.  As the writer of this article points out the deception of Hispanics by the Democratic Party is very sad.  It is sad because the democrats are against everything Latinos believe in and hold dear to them selves.  Hispanics traditionally are very loyal to their family and god and country.  Most Hispanics are Christian and believe in Christian values.  The democrats for decades however have been the party that hates America and god and family values.  The democrats have no problem with homosexuals or abortionists killing little babies or divorces and families being destroyed.  As long as people join their party and vote for their candidates the democrats will welcome them.  It is very sad that Hispanics have been lied to and lead astray by the shameless Democratic Party.

Illegal Immigration

What is the best way to deal with the illegal immigration topic?

I know that illegal immigrants are not supposed to be voters in any of the 50 states.

Through ACORN's efforts, some illegal immigrants may have become voters. I

assume, though, that these people are not a target for the GOP.

For legal voters, is there some blowback on the GOP and those who do not support

any version of amnesty?

Amnesty

Like I said, the GOP has really fowled things up with their feeble attempts to reach out to Hispanics. Amnesty is not the answer. By enforcing the existing laws we have on the books, the illegals will leave by attrition.

We need to vote in candidates like Marco rubio who will be the torch-bearers in the fight against illegal immigration.

But in the meantime, we need to reach out to those immigrants that haven't been corrupted yet.

Biggest group in FL.

For some reason we tend to forget that the biggest goup of eligible Hispanics voters in Florida are from Puerto Rico or Puerto Rican heritage. This is the group that voted for Jeb Bush in his last period who openly ackowledged that because of them he had won the election, the ones that upon moving to Florida can register the following day. The biggest misconception is that they are all liberals, there is nothing further from the truth. This is probably the only group in the Hispanic community that can swing an election in Florida, however it's a group that can't be taken for granted. The GOP has to make a gigantic effort in educating all hispanics voters as to the conservative principles and somehow divest itself of the labels the liberals have  succesfully attached on the conservatives. The party can't get bog down with illegal immigrant issues, they should take a stance and stick to it, at the same time explain the rationale behind their position or else they will be once again labeled as the party of the elite , bigots and who knows what else. There is nothing wrong in justifying your positon with out looking as defending yourself from the attackers.This group has broken the law and it's not only composed of Hispanics. We should not legalize the ilegal or else we fall in the same category as the liberals who say and do anything as long as it makes them look good. This group will eventually be dealt with, I for one do not favor open amnesty. As a society respect for the law is what differentiates us from other countries. Our efforts in reaching and educating the hispanic community on the conservative principles is of paramount importance, it has to be an ongoing effort and not restricted to election time. Lets keep our movement going and recuperate our voters one by one.

Luis, I completely agree with

Luis, I completely agree with you. The Puerto Rican community as a whole, has been labeled liberal. I know many Puerto Rican community leaders that are staunch conservatives. What we as a party need to do is reach out to these same voters and invite them into the GOP through our core principles and values-values they already share. These same Puerto Ricans will help turn out those existing liberals within their community. Again, the key is to invite and articulate our principles.
