Imagine being poor Mike Duvall this morning. You open your OC Register, pleased, (dare I say downright cocky?) that Brian Joseph reports the FBI, FPPC, and U.S. Attorney have all decided not to prosecute. "Wow, I just might get away with this", you think to yourself. And then, down at the bottom of the article, those words that unhinge your future. "Mrs. Barsuglia is considering all of her legal remedies." Begin the pucker, Mike. Should that poor maligned Sempra lobbyist go for the jugular, it is going to cost big. Duvall will have to settle, quietly and painfully. Because his only other option is to defend himself, and prove that he did not lie, but did in fact "have sex with that woman"...and I'm not seeing that happen anytime soon. Getting away with it just ain't what it used to be.
