McNerney Should Think Twice
By Ken Campbell | 03/20/10 | 10:42 PM EDT | 1 Comment
If he wants to stay in office, Jerry McNerney, the Democrat incumbent in California’s 11th CD should think twice about his vote tomorrow on Obama’s health care takeover. In his congressional district that leans to the left, 56% of respondents in a poll say they oppose Obama Care. The poll (by cc Advertising) conducted yesterday and today contacted 20,000 households in the 11th Congressional District and had 1946 respondents answer the question on health care reform. McNerney needs to decide if he will stand with the people of his district or his party.
Let Congressman McNerney know how you feel, 877-762-8762 (877-SOB-U-SOB), 202-224-3121, 202-225-3121 or his district office, 925-833-0643. Email: info@jerrymcnerney.org <info@jerrymcnerney.org>
Prediction: Obamacare Passes with 218 Votes
By El Tiburon | 03/20/10 | 6:29 PM EDT | 0 Comments
A friend of mine from Washington, D.C. who works in the mainstream press corp just shared with me that the White House and Speaker Nancy Pelosi already lined up all the votes necessary for passage tomorrow. The winning margin will be 218 to [ ]. All these predictions and posterings are just the dog and pony shows.
4th Supe District Watch: Nelson's Former Next-Door Neighbor Hired Bill Hunt To Investigate Harry...

Orange County politics can take some weird twists, but this is a doozy.
I posted a short time ago that Tony Bushala, next-door neighbor to 4th Supe District candidate Shawn Nelson, has asked DA Tony Rackauckus to investigate Nelson opponent Harry Sidhu.
Bushala bases his complaint on the report of a private investigator he hired.
And who would that private investigator be? Why, none other than "OC Detectives" -- the P.I. firm owned by OC Sheriff candidate Bill Hunt.
That would be the same Bill Hunt whose praises Bushala's blog has been singing, while attacking Hunt rival Craig Hunter. I wonder if that business relationship was ever disclosed on Fringe for Fullerton's Future?
If, by chance, Harry Sidhu is elected and Bill Hunt is elected OC Sheriff, that would make for some interesting inter-agency dynamics. Taking on this case certainly doesn't say a lot for Hunt's judgment.
4th Supe District Watch: Nelson’s Former Next-Door Neighbor Asks DA To Investigate Sidhu
By Matthew Cunningham | 03/20/10 | 1:22 AM EDT | 3 Comments
4th Supe District candidate Shawn Nelson’s next-door neighbor has filed a complaint with the OC District Attorney asking for an investigation into the other GOP candidate in the race, Harry Sidhu.
Tony Bushala, proprietor of Friends for Fullerton’s Future, the de facto voice of the Nelson for Supervisor campaign, is upset that Sidhu was briefly registered to vote at a 4th District apartment complex at which he apparently never lived.
Good luck with that.
Sidhu is now registered to vote at a house he is renting in the 4th District.
I don’t think anyone, least of all Bushala, believes the DA is going to file charges. Sidhu is no longer registered to vote there, so why would he bother?
But I seriously doubt sparking a real investigation is really the point of this exercise. The DA will look into it, which will allow the Nelson campaign to send out mail claiming that “Harry Sidhu is being investigated by the District Attorney for voter fraud!”
It’s a variation on the venerable tactic of filing a complaint against your opponent with the FPPC, and then telling voters your opponent is being “investigated for violating state law.”
Is It Courage, Or Cowardice?

The OPR (Obama, Pelosi, Reid) health care bill likely will be voted on in the next few days. The president and leaders of Congress think that it takes courage to pass this deficit-laden legislation. Nancy Pelosi claims that if it passes, "it would make history," and be a "victory for the American people."
Does it take courage to ram a hyper-partisan, anti-liberty bill down America's throat during a recession when there's no money left? In order to pay for it, taxes will be raised and Medicare will be raided. How much bravery does it take to use every extra-legal trick in the book to pass a liberal version of reform that has universally failed in country after country? This Democratic "victory" would be similar to the failed auto bailouts, TARP plan, and stimulus program, as well as other ambitions to micromanage vast segments of society.
These programs have colossally failed to grow jobs and ignite the economy, but they have increased the escalating deficit and national debt. It's common knowledge that the CBO forecast for the health care bill is woefully understated. If history is any guide, the proposed plan would cost 2-6 times as much as predicted. If it's passed, let's hope that the GOP can muster the courage to overturn it.
Does it take bravery to coerce Americans into a health care plan that would mandate insurance coverage, ration services, and dilute the quality of care? Health care is a very personal matter that is best left in the hands of those who know most about it such as individuals, nutritionists, exercise experts, doctors, and hospitals. It defies common sense to take health care decisions away from the American people, and place them in the hands of clueless bureaucrats.
How much courage does it take to rob current and future taxpayers and saddle them with debt as far as the eye can see? Moreover, recipients of the proposed plan wouldn't see any "benefits" until 2014, or beyond. By the time the plan is implemented, the "beneficiaries" would receive only crumbs from the government's table.
How valiant are you if you ignore the will of the vast majority of Americans, take away their choices and hard earned money, weaken the economy, as well as the foundations of our democratic republic? The role of Congress and the Executive is to preserve our liberties, not whittle them away with ineffective, waste riddled nanny state programs.
The Dems may think that it takes courage to pass their version of health care reform, but they are residing in a topsy-turvy world of delusion. In reality, it takes cowardice to extort money that doesn't even exist yet from the American people, and create yet another government program that will eat away at free enterprise and our precious liberties. Their hollow "victory" would be a triumph for mediocrity in a condescending, soul-numbing welfare state.
All of the staggering debt that's been generated by the Dems over the past year has been unnecessary, yet their greed for other people's money remains insatiable. If they had courage, they would make tough choices, streamline the government down to its core functions, balance the budget, reduce the debt, and shore up national security. They would leave most human endeavors to individuals, communities, and local entities.
Phil Greer To Represent Hugh Nguyen In Ballot Title Challenge
By Matthew Cunningham | 03/19/10 | 8:38 PM EDT | 2 Comments
I just learned that Clerk-Recorder candidate Hugh Nguyen has retained uber-politico lawyer Phil Greer to represent his interests regarding OC Clerk-Recorder Tom Daly's challenge to Nguyen ballot designation of "Assistant Orange County Clerk."
Phil has become like the Ghostbusters of OC election legal disputes: "Who ya gonna call? Phil Greer!"
Daly is represented by legal eagle and former Garden Grove Councilman Mark Rosen. So if you're interested in watching two of OC's top election lawyers square off, then get yourself to the OC courthouse on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
Here are the legal documents filed by the Daly side:
Petition for Peremptory Writ of Mandate
A final note: for what it's worth, on his Form 700 Statement of Economic Interests, "Assistant Orange County Clerk" Hugh Nguyen lists his position as "Administrative Services Manager."
