Observations And Questions Regarding Ft. Hood

Can any long-term lessons be absorbed from Nidal M. Hasan's cowardly and diabolical terrorist atrocity at Ft. Hood?  If we fail to learn lessons from his despicable rampage, more of these heinous attacks could occur in the future.  If Hasan recovers, hopefully investigators can find out if he acted alone, or with orders and support from other terrorists.

First, how could a psychiatrist who is supposed to do no harm, and an allegedly devout Muslim so misinterpret the nature of God by slaughtering the innocent?  How could an Army officer remain so long in uniform if he despised America and the armed forces?  Hasan should have been drummed out of the military long before last week, due to his poor performance reviews and extremist rants.

Second, instead of whining about his upcoming deployment to a war zone, he could have resigned his commission.  If he was so concerned about Muslims being killed overseas, why didn't he try to stop Muslims from killing Muslims, which is a constant in Islamic states?  His worries about Muslims somehow didn't give him any qualms about gunning down dozens of unarmed Christians, and perhaps folks of other faiths on Nov. 5th.

Third, following Hasan's cold-blooded atrocity, CAIR and a number of Muslim organizations condemned the attack, which is standard procedure.  However, these organizations always request that law enforcement protect Muslim communities and mosques against any "backlash."  That's quite odd, because Americans aren't attacking Muslims here in our democracy.  It's the other way around.  Why doesn't CAIR call for the protection of Americans of all cultures and faiths?

Fourth, radical Muslims are attacking the society that they chose to move to.  If they hate our freedoms and way of life, they can always return to their original fascist regimes.  Why doesn't CAIR denounce the Islamists who try to undermine our liberties and security with their frivolous lawsuits, and hypersensitivity to legitimate criticism?

Why doesn't CAIR condemn the genocide of Muslim against Muslim around the world, or the persecution of other faiths in Muslim dominant states?  Why don't the folks at CAIR denounce the terrorist organizations in the Middle East?

Why doesn't CAIR do something about the so called "honor" killings of Muslim women, even here in America?  Why doesn't CAIR try to rectify the treatment of Muslim women, who are often treated as a fraction of a human being?  CAIR's priorities seem to be upside down.

Fifth, it must be infuriating to the jihadists when they heard that a courageous female police officer (Kimberly Munley) took down Hasan during his shooting spree.  It must be hard for them to accept the fact that a woman can be equal to men in many ways, and that a woman can take out a terrorist.

Sixth, the USA is strong and the rapid response was excellent.  Despite the tragic casualties, life will go on and American resilience and virtues will endure.  You can bet on that.  We can pray that those who were murdered will rest in peace, and those that were wounded will recuperate.

We can pray that all of the affected families and friends of the victims will be blessed with comfort, grace, and peace.  Most of the victims were (and are) veterans who voluntarily serve the causes of justice and liberty around the globe.  There's no higher calling than to selflessly defend the universal principle of natural human freedom.  May God bless Ft. Hood and the USA.
