The Associated Press is reporting that the U.S. envoy to a two week climate change conference in Germany is promising that the United States is ready to take the lead in the climate change debate.

Climate change is the new buzz word for what used to be called global warming by former Vice President Al Gore. The change in terminology is because there is clear and irrefutable evidence that the globe is actually cooling, and it has been for the last ten years.

Envoy Todd Stern said no one on his team doubted that climate change is real. "The science is clear, the threat is real, the facts on the ground are outstripping the worst-case scenarios. The cost of inaction or inadequate action are unacceptable," he said - a total change of tone from the Bush White House.

The White House has set aside $80 billion in the economic stimulus package for green energy, promised $150 billion for research over 10 years, and was tightening regulations on auto emissions, according to Stern.

Compare the spending plans on green energy to the Obama budget and stimulus spending for American small business. Obama has set aside about $765 million for small business stimulus spending--less than 1% of the planned "green initiatives" spending.

Small business is where innovation and jobs are created. But Obama has made insignificant investments in the health and welfare of small business in these economic times.
