Last month voters nationwide rejected President Bush by electing Barack Obama President. The anti-Bush sentiment caused the Republican Party to lose numerous United States Senators and Congressmen.
Our party needs to rebuild and recapture our core values especially when it comes to fiscal discipline. We need to distance ourselves from the Bush family legacy. Unfortunately, that cannot happen if Jeb Bush runs for the open Florida U.S. Senate seat in 2010.
Jeb's potential candidacy will put President George W. Bush in the center of the 2010 elections at a time when the GOP should be moving on. President Bush could once again cripple our candidates for a third election cycle in a row. Worse yet, pundits will start speculating about Jeb becoming the third Bush to run for President.
Our party cannot afford another Bush candidacy for Senate or the Presidency. It is time for the Bush family to exit politics.
