TV AD: NRCC Commercial Imitates Al Gore's We Campaign

If you've watched television in the past few months, you've no doubt seen one of several variants of a commercial endorsing clean energy. The commercials focus on the catch phrase "We Can Solve It." This "We Campaign" is a part of Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection. In August, Red County San Bernardino editor Jessica Austin linked to the commercial. Here it is again:

Many have criticized Sen. John McCain for not being more aggressive on the economic issues facing this county. They have said that John McCain should be doing as he promised--Naming names, making them famous, and all of that.

It seems that the National Republican Congressional Committee is not going to wait for John McCain to take the lead on this. They have released a rather impressive commercial detailing Democratic support for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac's efforts to provide lower-income persons the ability to purchase a home. The commercial infers that this was a significant factor that led to the economic crisis of the past few weeks (that has, of course, been building up for quite some time).

Here is the RNCC's commercial:

The similarities are, of course, striking.

While the concept is a powerful one, it would have been nice if the RNCC could have developed its own concepts for commercials. There's no need to copy Al Gore.
