Jumping the Gun

Al Queda

Bin Laden

Kim Jong II

Mahmoud Ahmedinejad

As you reflect on these names, do they conjure images of freedom seeking tolerant folks that would sit and talk about peace with their neighbors?  Have these people entered another nation lately for the sole purpose of running food, water, or medical supplies to the poor and suffering?  Have they displayed a genuine desire for peace and to co-exist with all nations that desire to be friends?

Or do they have recent sound bites captured by our illustrious un-biased media outlets that contain enough venom to kill any hope that they are peace-loving individuals?

How will November 4th impact the countries that are led by these transgressors?   How will our nation navigate the next four years with these four concerns living and breathing on the same planet?  And how does our nation view the road to prosperity for America with these tyrants unleashed and waiting to see who their next target is?

Not many people are talking about these names right now.  I guess because we're all too busy at work, getting our jobs done, working through meetings, and when time allows asking each other "What's the Dow doing?"   Domestically our economic future is front and center, pushing these notorious four off the center platform.

So while the Dow may have ended slightly back up today and there was a op-ed piece in your local paper about the weekly can-drive for the High School Band and you had to turn the thermostat up a little bit this week if you live in the Northeast, there's a threat of conflict and impending war on our nation brewing.  There is also some major work to be done by the Republican Party in terms of reminding our nation of what international policy and threats we face in 2009 and beyond.

Who is best ready for the job of leading this nation through these challenges:  John McCain or the Acorn Candidate?

If America is jumping the gun, and making an irreversible mistake on November 4th, the future of many generations is at risk, and those stakes could not get any higher.

Unfortunately I feel that at times we are way too short sighted for our own good. Remember, "It's the economy stupid" helped get Bill Clinton elected. If Obama gets elected, this will be the culmination of the past 20 years and degeneration of The Republican Party as we know it. Bill Clinton was able to beat two war heroes, one a sitting president. Obviously, our nation has changed, and not for the better.

Let's face it, George H.W. Bush was not Reagan's choice, he picked him out of political expediency. They disliked each other during the campaign and Bush did not buy into Reagan's economic philosophy at all: remember "Voodoo economics", but as a two term sitting VP, Bush was the obvious heir apparent to Reagan, even though he was no Ronald Reagan. An honorable man yes, a war hero absolutely, but Ronald Reagan he was not. He squandered in four years what Reagan had built over the previous eight, which led us to Clinton.

Clinton has given the middle of the road folks an excuse to give Obama such a long look. Even though Clinton was an extreme Liberal, he was a good politician and realized he needed to govern from the center because he lost the House in 1994. Those people who voted for Clinton then are looking at Obama and saying the same things about him, that he'll govern from the center for the sake of "Change". The big difference is that Clinton didn't have a large majority in Congress to work with, and by 1994 people were on to him and he lost Congress which forced him to govern from the middle. If Obama wins, he will not have to govern from the middle. He will have a large enough lead in the House and Senate to be empowered to govern any way he wants. By 2010, even if a few seats migrate back to the republicans, the democrats will still control all three branches of government for Obama's entire term. And, the economy, almost by default will rebound, which of course will be considered to be the result of Obama The Great. He will have a massive political machine as the incumbent president and will realistically win re-election. People do not realize the domino effect and ramifications of this vote. John McCain must defeat Obama on November 4th for the future of our country.

Many people believe that it will be better for Obama to win because the next four years will be tough anyway, so an Obama victory today will ensure a republican avalanche in the future...I like playing high stakes poker with the best of them, but that game is too rich for my blood. Every election must stand on it's own. I didn't like Bill Clinton and thought the best man lost, but I could understand why Bush 41 lost, "Read my lips". And I could understand why Clinton was re-elected. In my opinion he dishonored the office he held, so I understand why W. won in 2000, he ran on bringing honor back to The White House. And, even though he wasn't the most popular, I understand why he won re-election. But I honestly can't understand how a first term Senator who has run for the vast majority of that time, could beat The Clinton Machine in the primary, and be ahead of a well known long term, experienced senator, who just happens to be a war hero as well.

I hate to say it, but at times we are our own worst enemies, and if this atrocity happens, we will be getting what we deserve, because we as republicans had an opportunity to eliminate the democrats into what Reagan called, "the trash heap of history", but we squandered our chances. If McCain loses, we must pick ourselves up, pray to God that we still have a nation strong enough to be able to be rebuilt. It will take more than just a little elbow grease and a coat of paint. It will take soul searching, not finger pointing.

There are real and perceived threats. Some may say the threats are not really threats for we have not spoken to these parties. We don't really know what they want - they haven't TALKED with us.

There is dialogue already - the political despots you mention are speaking to us with their actions. VERY LOUDLY!

McCain has said to stop giving money to folks like Putin - that action would speak volumes. McCain is really "Country First" and he is talking about the USA.

There you go again, just like a typical Republican. Bring the fear-mongering in to get people to vote for you!

Sorry - don't know what got into me.

Seriously, aren't you tired of living in fear? I'm not saying that should ignore legitimate threats; there are plenty to go around. But what have the last 8 years gotten us? We're certainly no safer than we were 8 years ago. Bin Laden's still at large, al queda is still looming, etc etc etc. And let's count the rights and freedoms we've lost...wait, I can't count that high, even with my shoes off. And then there's the economy...ah, the economy. Reagan started the deregulation that led to the current crisis, and racked up a national debt greater than all the past administrations combined; Bush II just finished the work...and us (and US). Clinton (a democrat, for gawd's sake!) balanced the budget and handed Bush II the greatest surplus ever. And the rest is history (or the present, unfortunately).

I know republicans don't like to hear it, but the dems have been far more fiscally responsible than they have! And aren't republicans supposed to be for personal rights? How many rights have dems taken away from us? Have dems proposed any constitutional amendments to take away our rights (e.g., anti women's choice; anti same sex marriage). Can't republicans be FOR something? I mean for something positive, not for something like shooting illegals at the border or nuking iran.
