Chicken Little for President?!

Am I the only American who actually appreciates John McCain's unwavering stance, that our nation's economy is "fundamentally sound" and saying so in the face of what some are calling an "economic Pearl Harbor"? Who wants to hear "The sky is falling, the sky is falling!" on an issue that's this unsettling from some wannabe "Leader"?! No matter how others mischaracterize it, the courage to stand up and "say this is deadly-serious but we have what it takes to succeed", is exactly what I want to see. That is true Leadership!
Has everyone forgotten McCain's parallel stance on General Petraeus' Surge Strategy for the War in Iraq? In spite of the cacophony of cries from others, especially the Democrat Party's leadership, that "All is lost, all is lost!", McCain displayed that same courageous leadership when he said, "I'd rather see me lose an election than see us lose this war". Now, thanks to our hindsight, we honor him for that stance. Why, then, is he being so vilified for his bravery and forsight now?
We would do well to remember what our nation learned during our most daunting economic crisis. Ironically, it was perfectly summed up by a Democrat, the one who also ended up facing the real Pearl Harbor, when he said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself!" That true leader, FDR, was before my time but from what I know, he was someone I would have been proud to follow through those very troubled times. That is precisely how I feel towards John McCain.
