Biden/Hillary: The Ultimate Flip-Flop?

Posted by: Michael S. Kerr | 09/10/2008 7:02 PM

Is it beyond the realm of possibility to think that Joe Biden might not be on the Obama ticket come November? I know, the conventions have already taken place and the bumper stickers have been made, but it's an interesting proposition.

You have to wonder, if Obama could rewind the clock and put Hillary on the ticket, would he do it? My guess is he would. John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin has created a massive shift, especially amongst female voters, and Obama is in real danger of losing this key demographic.

Of course, if this were to happen, it would be made to look like it was purely Joe Biden's decision. Let's say, for personal reasons, he was no longer able to adequately represent his party as the vice-presidential candidate. Who would be the logical choice to take his place?

This scenario is enough to make Republican stomachs churn and Democrats downright giddy. Why would I ponder such a thought? Joe Biden made a rather curious statement at a campaign stop today. He said that Hillary "might have been a better pick than me."

It may have just been an off-the-cuff remark, but this is not the kind of gaffe seasoned politicians are prone to making. I can think of 18 million reasons why Obama may be having second thoughts.

Possible, depending on the polls. Although Biden is a well seasoned politician this kind of gaffe isn't that unusual for him.

I'd like to see his face when Obama breaks the news to him, "Ya' know Joe, I've been thinking about what you said..."
