Log Cabin Republicans Won't Support McCain

At least that is the threat posted on the Log Cabin Club Website. In the 2004 election, the Log Cabin organization pulled their endorsement of George Bush because he supported a Federal Marriage Ammendment.
John McCain has already endorsed state versions like that that will be on California's November Ballot. If he picks a conservative nominee the threat goes......they won't support the nominee of the party.
That is how they operate their "Big Tent" philosophy. Besides if supporting homosexual marriage is your number one issue... you are in the wrong party.

So, Mike, is opposing gay marriage the number one issue on your agenda? If so, we Republicans are toast this November.
Maybe you should be advocating smaller government rather than your nazi like* social engineering. I'm a conservative and i'm tired of you giving me a bad name. I can't wait for your proposition to fail in November and you won't have a leg to stand on. You will no longer have "the people have spoken" cover from Prop 22. A lot of things have changed since then. The funny part is, i've been in meetings with you and you really think you have people on your side. Get out of the echo chamber.
*I'm not saying Mike is a Nazi, i am refering to the Nazi party actions to eliminate homosexuality from their world.
Since when does opposing Gay Marriage equal elimanting Homosexuality? Also, Nazi Germany had plenty of homosexulas with in it's rank. You should read the Pink Swatiska.
Actually, if anything, this looks really bad for the Log Cabin Republicans. I agree with SactoSteve that if gay marriage is number one issue in our agenda, we are toast, but it doesn't help the Log Cabin's cause when they proclaim to endorse candidates based on other issues BESIDES gay marriage, and then to threaten our party's presidential nominee with a non-endorsement if he doesn't follow their line on the issue.
It's really a flip flop if you think about it.
Maybe some of those anon commenters taking pot shots at Spence should come out of the closet.
Are the LCR's Republicans or not? Every time the nominee is not a supporter of Gay Marriage or School Recruiting, the LCR's stomp off and go home. That is the real issue.
All Spence was pointing out was that this group may not support the Republican Nominee for President because he has taken a position consistent with the GOP Party Platform.
I think it is one thing to support your guy in the primary. But once you get to the general, it is completely inappropriate for a party organization to openly and actively oppose the nominee because their positions are consistent with the party platform.
Who wrote the party platform Craig?
Sure,
Members of the Republican Party wrote the platform.
As a matter of fact, I sat on the California Republican Party Platform Committee, as well as the Platform Drafting Committee.
Craig - The Republican Platform has been pretty consistent over the years as well.
I have some things to say to the LC Republicans:
