SB 1322: Red Dawn in California?
Posted by: Mike Spence | 03/04/2008 9:35 AM
As with most conservatives my age Red Dawn is in of the greatest movies ever made. A California Legislator Alan Lowenthal has introduced a bill that would allow Communist indoctrination of future Wolverines in public schools. I know there is plenty of indoctrination going on all ready but I guess they won't be satisfied until all school children are gay loving(SB777) and Communist. If only they could all read at grade level.
This way fellow travelers in teaching position can't get in trouble. And of course unlike Red Dawn the enemy within wins not the Cubans and Russians. Meredith Turney has a great take on this as well.

Ridiculous bill, what a moron. Unfortunately, Mr. Spence's colorful summary of it was cheapened by his "gay loving" remark. Quite frankly, I think we ought to love "gays" just like we ought to love all people. Perhaps that's just my Christian upbringing, or perhaps its my authentic conservative philosophy, that government should neither intrude nor regulate Americans' private lives. It's little wonder that with those types of comments, our Grand Party is seen as a closed minded, small tent party.
We, as Republicans, need to change the rhetoric. It starts in venues like this.

You miss the point. Indoctrination is Indoctination. This legislature is all for it communism, homosexuality, environmentalism etc.... The same people for for all these bills. They want to underman American Values and American Institutions.
Sorry, but I guess I need more indoctrination.
I agree. Soon public schools will be completely worthless. It doesn't necessarily teach us to "love" gays, rather it teaches us to love homosexuality, and variant sexualities. Those who truly love homosexuals would share with them the truth (in love) about not only the dangers of their chosen lifestyle, but also what the Bible says about it, and how Christ can free them from it.
Ok. I have been reading these blogs for some time and realized that they have had no effect on Sacramento. Washington views the CRP as a joke. The govenator wants nothing to do with his own party. This bill and SB 777 and the fact that there existance is given minimal media coverage and known to a few outside political circles are testiments to the ineptitude of the CRP. It seems that everything the CRP touches turns to CRaP.
If I'm not mistaken there was a scene in Red Dawn where Nicaraguans and Cubans were parachuting into the town. The idea of 3rd world soldiers besting the US military seemed absurbed at the time, it had me asking "How could you, the USA let this happen?"
Well this is real, so I'm asking the CRP's version of Powers Booth to step forward. How could you let this happen? You owe your base an answer.
Wow, I don't know where to start. Lets start with Red Dawn as being one of the best movies ever made. This explains alot about the mentality and intellectual fire power of the average conservative. I cannot for the life of me understand why conservatives hate the Constitution so much (except the 2nd Amendment of course.) I have to give credit to Chuck DeVore however considering the fact that his bill from last year, AB 137, also struck the communist indoctrination provisions from the Ed Code. Why wasn't Mike Spence blasting that bill as well? Oh that's right DeVore is a Republican. Look it up people. You folks need to get over the communists, it was so 80's. At least DeVore has, he's moved on to the terrorists.
SB1322 is great opportunity to revive the level of conservative activism on California college campuses that's waned steadily since the days Mike Spence was a hero at UCLA.
YAF www.calyaf.org, CR and SFA (are they still around, Mike?) groups should take up the cause of defeating the bill while using the issue to publicly out Marxist professors who hide behind "academic freedom" to brainwash students and use the power of the grading pen to force compliance to their warped worldviews.
Secondary school students and parents and school-board members, too, should question why their teachers need the "right" to indoctrinate.
Red Dawn, by the way, is a great film (but not necessarily an example of great filmmaking).
Let's see here Jesus broke bread with:
Tax collectors (viscious b*stards)
Lepers (diseased folks)
Sinners
Prostitutes
...and somehow, the religious wackos here believe that Jesus wouldn't have a luncheon with homosexuals? Kinda anti-Christian, huh?
That is if these wackos are even Christian to begin with. Sounds more like they portray what they feel in their infinite wisdom what they WANT God to support...so long as it's convenient to their own cafeteria beliefs.
PS I don't remember my schoolteacher friends talking about actively teaching gay-lovin in their classes. I was public educated. Are you sure the meaning of this post isn't merely to provide fuel for hate speech?
Sadly, SFA or Students for America is no more.
Can Mike Spence tell us what is for. I know he is against everything. Spence wants to talk about the good old days - are the good old days that if you had a different opinion you were on a black list.
Maybe Spence wants the good old days of interning people because of thier race, no matter how long they had been in America.
Again it might be he wants the good old days of high unemployment and hunger, or those of slavery.
Mike, stop watching Ozzie and Harriet reruns - those unholy people in Hollywood made that TV show up - it was not real.
How much is any persons opinion worth who thinks "Red Dawn" is one of the greatest movies ever made?? Even Patrick Swayze would not say that.
This bill is crazy! We have been fighting against communism for 60yrs. That why we went to korea. When we constantly fight for our freedom, why would we want to indoctrinate ourselves with communism which calls for a dictator that dictates what we can and cannot do. Isn't that why we are the united States of America. If we have communism in the US, everything our fore fathers and those in the armed forces have fought for over 1000 yrs ago!!! At one point we even put people who we thought were communist in their own camps, be cause we didn't want our people to be infected with communism. Now we even have people in government infected. Really scars me!
This bill is not only about allowing communists to teach in schools but literally any one that supports "forceful or
violent overthrow of the Government of the United States or of any
state". This also applies to any person or persons with the same agenda who wish to use schools as their meeting places.
This is bigger than communism.
The only reason to advocate the change to existing law, is to promote the very thing that is being changed.
I urge you to write the governor to veto this legislation.
1) Communism? Really?
2) Why should a teacher be forced ( as a condition of work) to swear to defend the Constitution?
3) Communism? Really?
All that SB 1322 does is revise state law so that it does not violate our Constitutional rights. Why is that so scary?
I understand the bill is now law. Does the bill mandate the disclosure to students that Stalin exterminated 30 million fellow Russians in the name of communism? Or disclose to students Mao Tse-Tung's murder of over 50 million Chinese also in the name of communism? If you are going to seduce impressionable minds with unattainable utopia's, you should also warn of the disasterous consequences when such utopias are sought.
I agree, I think it is terrible that a state will allow people to think for themselves and hear different perspectives. We should keep our children completely sheltered and practice universal isolationism in this country.
The idea of freedom of speech is overrated.
(Sarcasm intended)
