Romney's Win in Michigan will Prolong Chaotic Contest

Mitt Romney.jpgI am disappointed in tonight's result in Michigan where Mitt Romney soundly defeated his nearest rival, John McCain, by a whopping 9 points.  Though the result is also somewhat expected as many folks saw this coming a few days ago with various polls showing either a neck-to-neck race between the two or Romney beating McCain by a few percentage.

Like those who are affiliated with the ABR Club, I was hoping Michigan would narrow the field down to two front runners - Mike Huckabee and John McCain, but it looks like this thing is going to go on for a while, at least to Florida.

In fairness, Mitt Romney earned this victory tonight in Michigan, not because he spent more money, but because he campaigned better than McCain.  As an alumni of the Leadership Institute, I was taught that voters respond better to candidates who are optimistic over the pessimistic ones and Romney presented himself as someone who can bring back jobs and opportunities.  John Mccain, on the other hand, gave Michigan voters his "straight talk" rhetoric and truthfully claimed that "some jobs will never come back..."  Not something hopeless voters want to hear from a presidential candidate.

Now on fourth to South Carolina! Anyway, here is Mitt Romney's victory speech for your viewing pleasure:
