The Gov Needs Name Tags for Republican Assemblymembers?
By Mr. Murphy | 09/11/08
The Skinny I read this in the Flashreport this morning and thought it was pretty funny. By Capitol Weekly Staff (published Thursday, September 11, 2008) When the Assembly Republicn Caucus met with Gov. Schwarzenegger Tuesday to talk budget, the 32 Republican Assemblymembers were all wearing name tags. The message was clear: members feel the governor has not done enough to engage individual members on their priorities. The idea was thought... read more »

Unite and March!
By Mr. Murphy | 08/29/08
Republican nominee has given conservatives what we asked for on the ticket: a conservative reformer. When I woke up and heard the news the morning I frankly didn't know much about Governor Palin... but having read up on her I'm finally excited about November. Her nomination re-welds the pieces of our coalition party together. I'm calling on local Republicans of all stripes to unite for the next two months and put the organization together that... read more »

'60 Minutes' Strikes Again
By Mr. Murphy | 08/24/08
Any adult who has watched '60 Minutes' knows that the program is hardly sympathetic to conservatives or Republicans. So I'm watching the show tonight and what do I see? A re-aired, MUCH earlier program about the so-called "Massacre at Haditha" - an incident in the Iraq conflict that occured in 2005. The first 60 Minutes broadcast occured many months ago - BEFORE THE CHARGES AGAINST THE MARINES WERE DROPPED OR THEY WERE FOUND... read more »

Little Fight at the Republican Central Committee Tonight
By Mr. Murphy | 08/11/08
As I write there are reports of a little fight brewing between members of the Republican Central Committee tonight at the monthly meeting over the appointment of open Committee seats. Mighty Thor prohibited reports from the floor of the meeting, or from reports from the floor, so I'll leave it at that, for now. read more »

TV Ad Airs Calling Horton Out on State Budget
By Mr. Murphy | 07/28/08
I saw a television commercial this morning whacking Assemblywoman Shirley Horton on the Republican delegation's refusal to vote for tax increases to balance the state budget. The ad stars a number of teachers who complain that their schools don't have any money, and a parent who says "I'm a Republican, but..." then calls for Horton to vote to "raise revenue" ie hike taxes and to do the "right thing" not what Republican leadership wants her to... read more »

Emerald Emerges
By Mr. Murphy | 07/24/08
I was at a delicious BBQ last night and one of my wife's friends - who I believe is a Republican - mentioned Marti Emerald had come knocking on her Navajo door a week or so ago. I find this interesting because I believe both my wife's friend and her husband are Republicans. I can't imagine many Republicans still support a woman who thinks DROP and illegal immigration are the best thing since sliced bread. My wife's friend was a little... read more »
