Recently, Meg Whitman rolled out the endorsements of several current and former County Supervisors.

Among them was Former Supervisor Sue Horne from Nevada County and Current Supervisor Steve Lambert of Butte County.

Lambert and Horne have a few things in common - the grassroots don't like them, they both voted to raise taxes many times and David Reade. Yes, that David Reade - the campaign manager for Doug LaMalfa / Cheif of Staff for Gentleman Jim Nielsen.

Now, first off, I tip my cap to David Reade for delivering his clients to her Megness. I am certain Doug LaMalfa is going to follow gentelman Jim and flip his endorsement with much self-generated fanfare. It would make sense since LaMalfa, Nielsen and Lambert were all part of Team Ose (so was Horne until it was determined to be detremental to her ill-fated assembly campaign).

As it were - the Guv race is a microcausm of the North State. The tax and spend liberals on the side of Team LaMalfa/Ose and the true Republicans on the side of Team Keene/McClintock. While Keene/McClintock have not endorsed yet - events leading up are practically forcing them into the Poizner column.

Steve Lambert is also fond of shipping Butte counties' water off to Southern California. While you socal readers may chuckle - think about it, people with 1914 water rights can drill wells into the aquafer without any of the idiotic state enviros being able to tell them no - however, this leads to another double-dip... take taypayer subsidized surface water and re-sell it to Southern California for a profit. LaMalfa has done this for years and Steve Lambert has voted to support this practice. It may be legal - but it is an abuse of the taxpayers and is certainly unethical.

Horne? She was lambasted by four former Nevada County Chairmen for abandoning the Republican Party, for refusing to lift a finger to support the Nevada County GOP after gaining election to the board of supervisors. In a letter that was a devastating centerpeice to the assembly campaign just completed, the County Chairmen expressed their serious issues with Sue Horne.

In the letter, they detail how Horne led a Republican takeover of an extremely liberal board of supes in Nevada County only to leave liberals in charge of County Departments and how she worked to marginalize the Central Committee until she wanted to run for office.

Both Horne and Lambert adbicated leadership and had/have mixed into the tax and spend bureaucracies of their counties doing absolutely nothing for those that elected them. Now they have told us who to vote for in the Governor's race.

It should give us all pause. Again, this time through endorsements, Whitman is firmly establishing her liberal credentials.
