Legislative Democrats Stiff-Arm Pro-Growth Legislation

When government enacts policies that reward investment and job creation, one tends to get more investment and job creation -- a truism that is lost on the Democratic inmates...er, legislators...running the legislative asylum, per this statement from the Senate Republican Caucus:
Republican Caucus Members Issue Joint Statement on Revenue and Tax Reform Bills
Senate Republican Leader Dennis Hollingsworth (R-Murrieta), with Senators Roy Ashburn (R-Bakersfield), Bob Dutton (R-Rancho Cucamonga), Tony Strickland (R-Thousand Oaks) and Mimi Walters (R-Laguna Hills) released a statement concerning a number of job creation bills up for a vote in the Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee today.
“Senate Republicans had measures today that would have provided much needed relief to consumers and businesses that would allow them to expand jobs and grow. Continuing our failed tax system does not add up to more revenue, it means fewer jobs and therefore less revenue,” Senator Hollingsworth stated.
Senator Roy Ashburn presented three economic growth bills, a research and development tax credit (SB 444), a manufacturers investment tax credit (SB 445), and a small business health care tax credit (SB 594). SB 444 and SB 445 would provide tax credits for California companies engaged in research and development and in the purchase of new manufacturing equipment.
“These measures are designed to encourage exploration of new technologies that have led, in the past, to the expansion of industry and the creation of high-wage jobs in the state. SB 594 would provide tax relief for businesses who offer employees healthcare options and facilitate the maintenance of such insurance programs,” said Senator Ashburn. “Employees would enjoy a double benefit from having health insurance and paying for their premiums on a pretax basis. The reality is that the more people that are insured the lower the costs to the taxpayers, who pay for costly emergency room visits for people without medical insurance.“
Senator Bob Dutton presented seven economic stimulus bills in the Revenue and Taxation Committee that, among other things, would have helped put hard-working Californians back to work by offering incentives to businesses and by making it more affordable to purchase a new vehicle.
“I am very disappointed the committee decided to reject bills I believe will help stimulate the economy and create jobs. Unfortunately, the hard-left liberal members of the majority party have decided they would rather look at new ways to raise taxes than create private sector jobs.”
Senator Tony Strickland authored five bills (SB 462, 463, 464, 534, and SCA 13) that offered new green tax incentives to stimulate our economy and create jobs by promoting transition to renewable, clean energy. Senate Bills 462, 463, 464 were put on suspense.
“I’m working with Democrats and Republicans to change California to a renewable energy economy to create jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, improve the environment, and lower energy prices. By focusing on legislation that promotes renewable, clean energy, we promote local businesses. When businesses grow, jobs multiply,” said Senator Tony Strickland.
Senator Mimi Walters presented SB 373 and SB 658 that would encourage consumers and grow the economy through tax breaks, including the reduction of licensing fees to purchase vehicles.
“Given the state of our economy, it is critical that our Legislature begins to take steps to stimulate business. Higher taxes will not stimulate our economy - only lower taxes and streamlined regulation will have the effect of generating business and pulling us out of this economic downturn.“ Senator Walters concluded.
