The battle is on in NY-23, and Newt Gingrich shocked the conservative world by backing the RINO in this race. On Thursday, Chip Hanlon got the chance to discuss this startling choice with the former Speaker himself--and Newt did not back down. Listen in for a terrific conversation between these two. Also, know that Gingrich's new book, "To Try Men's Souls," is now available at Amazon. Be sure to pick up a copy.

Does it make no difference that Hoffman's ahead?

Chip missed the boat by not asking Newt whether it makes a difference that Hoffman is now ahead of Scozaffava, and possibly leading the whole race.  Yes, 11 county chairmen may have chosen DeDe, but it's clear now that more Republicans and more Independents support Hoffman.  Newt should defer to the Republican voters in New York's 24th district, not the county chairs.  At this point, a vote for Scozafava is a vote for Owens.  Newt is making a horrible decision to keep supporting the spoiler candidate, rather than the conservative who is on the verge of winning.
