Rowland USD assult on Democracy
By Allen Wilson | 03/11/09 | 09:30 PM EDT | 0 Comments
Last week, I reported about Rowland Unified School District Parcel Tax Proposal and the intent was to have a "said election for the parcel tax in question".
Now, I have learned that instead of a normal election day where voters cast their ballots at various polling stations throughtout the school district, the election will be conducted by "Mail-In Vote" fashion.
Therefore, the ballots will be mailed out to all registered voters on June 1st and must be mailed back to the district by June 30th.
The California Election Code clearly states that a said election must have a date in question on the measure or candidate standing to be chosen by electors.
The RUSD's very own consultants Tramutola advised the district on the scheme, which is wrong and abhorrent.
It is a sad day when bureaucrats try to pull the wool over our eyes by conducting a "Mail-In Election", which is an assult to our democratic system.
The parents, community leaders and educators in the Rowland Unified School District should raise a ruckus on this, because it is high time to take back our government, which is rightfully belongs to the people, not the "high mighty" bureaucrats and political consultants!
Obviously, this is not what we learned in civics about elections and democracy. What the Rowland USD has done taken 300 years step backwards to tyranny by thumbing the noses at the parents and taxpayers throughout the school district.
