Popular, Long-Time Sheriff Says Strickland is Best Choice for State Senate
(Santa Barbara) Former Santa Barbara Sheriff Jim Thomas has announced his support for Tony Strickland in his race for State Senate. Thomas served Santa Barbara County as Sheriff from 1990-2002. Strickland adds this endorsement to a list of other highly popular law enforcement officials in the 19th Senate District supporting his campaign.
"Tony Strickland has always made public safety a priority and been a friend to law enforcement officials and organizations, " said Thomas. "Tony's independent leadership and integrity should appeal to voters on all sides of the political aisle."
Both Tony Strickland and former Sheriff Jim Thomas have endorsed upcoming ballot measures designed to increase penalities for violent criminals and provide additional rights for victims of crime. Strickland is Central Coast Chair of the Safe Neighborhoods Act, a ballot meausre supported by an overwhelming majority of law enforcement officials from all over California.
"Sheriff Jim Thomas has been a great asset to Santa Barbara and I am honored to have his support," said Strickland. "We both agree that public safety is critically important and we share our support for widely popular ballot initiatives that will help further protect families in this district.
