Water Board Candidate Andrew McIntyre: Real job title and experience?
Posted by: Allen Wilson | 08/20/2008 11:15 PM
Andrew McIntyre, candidate for Upper San Gabriel Valley Water District - Division 4, which covers Covina, Glendora and West Covina.
The residents and voters in the water district are raising questions relative to his experience and employment.
Mr. McIntyre on his campaign website indicates that he is employed by Canyon Water Company as a "Water Resource Manager". However, on another website blog of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports that Mr. McIntyre currently works for the McIntyre Company, which is own by father.
Question: Which is it, Mr. McIntyre?
A job title on a sample ballot for an elected postion on the Water Board such as "Water Resource Manager" can be very misleading to the voters.
Furthermore, Mr. McIntyre lists his community involvement, which is impressive. As young as the candidate is, how can he proclaim such prestigious titles, when it takes years for anyone to make his/her mark in a community.
One should not discount Mr. McIntyre's desire to improve the delivery of water services to the Upper San Gabriel Valley Water District community. As we are witnessing in the national election for President questioning Mr. Obama's experience and the voters should equally question Mr. McIntyre's true motive and experience in running for office, despite his youth.
Furthermore, we do not want to repeat the drama saga surrounding Xavier Alvarez's experience claims, when he ran for the Three Valleys Municipal Water District back in 2006.
Therefore, the voters deserve to know the integrity and experience of the candidate before the votes are casted on election day.

Are you kidding me? Are you advocating for William Robinson instead? I know and seen this water district in action, or should I say inaction. I would much rather have a monkey there instead of stupid "Bill" and Royall Brown is even worse. I don't know much about McIntyre but he could only be better than Robinson. In fact, I would say that Robinson is the current Alvarez on that board.
Bill Robinson has to go, I agree, but Andy isnt the guy to take Bill's place. Royall can be described as eccentric, but he has the experience as a water engineer and the know-how on how to get theings done. I'm voting for Royall Brown for District 4 Upper SGV Water Board.
Andrew McIntyre's father is a wealthy developer in WC, and owns the privately-held Canyon Water Company. The old man is on the board of an irrigation district in the area; I forget its exact name. As best as I can tell, Canyon Water Company has no physical resources and is a portfolio holding company or shell company. It would be interesting to know if it has any employees beyond Andrew. You can see that the old man, Bill McIntyre is a director and signatory to the SEC filing for Southwest Water Company and his address is listed as "Canyon Water Company" in Covina. It appears to me that he is a shareholder in Southwest, and Canyon is a partnership or holding company. Her's the SEC link: http://www.secinfo.com/drdbh.5Xx.4.htm#TOC
I've heard Robinson's pretty thorny, but it seems like they always run water industry insiders against him. I don't know; if Robinson's too much, give Brown a shot.
OK, haha, I dug a little deeper. Southwest Water Company is the parent of -- you guessed it -- Suburban Water. So McIntyre's old man owns Suburban, and Andy manages the holding company. Nice.
Andy's a great guy his family has been involved for many years locally supporting good candidates. They currently work with and help the 57th Assembly District Central Committee with help and have for, for years. Bill Robinson, Royal Brown or Andy Mc Intyre this is an easy choice, Andy all the way. Have you ever seen them (Bill or Royal)in public, some advice for Bill Robinson and Royal Brown take a bath and wash your clothes. There is a reason they don't show there photos! Andy will make a great new leader for Upper San Gabriel.
Allen, I know your bright and with very little research you would have realized that the Canyon Water Company is owned by the Mc Intyre family the same family who when West Covina was in the 6oth Assembly District provided the Republican Headquarters free space. Where you met, this terrible person Andy Mc Intyre allowed you to meet on his family property for free. Be honorable if you question him and his truthfulness, you should question you and the Republican Party always asking him for money and free space. Look who owns the building the 57th uses now and look who owns the property the 60th use too use. Whether by direct gift(in-kind)or donation to make up the difference Mc Intyre has been your angel. Thats some of our problems we have as a party, we forget who our friends are. Be honorable pay rent and turn down the donations in the future from this good family.
Response to "West Covina Resident 2":
Read my whole article, the question is about the candidate himself, not the Republican Headquarters in Covina.
Furthermore, the Canyon Water Company was never mentioned in my article, just those made by their own comments.
I never said Andy is a horrible person. If we do not question the candidate's resume, who will? Isn't that part of the democratic process?
Since you brought up money and donations, isn't thats the problem in politics: Money means access to power? I have seen this over in my 20 years in politics and something has to give to the "truth and honesty".
Allen, then your 60th Central Committee shouldn't take donation because based on your argument, people that donate just want access to power, what's the difference? You, yourself attend fundraisers for candidates is that you trying to buy access or are you just being involved in your right to free speech and association? The RNC is getting ready for the convention and it's not being paid for by the little people, its big business paying the feight! Remember if your for campaign limits then we should start with the parties and central committees which take soft money! Who pays for this blog? and what do they get out of this? After all you have commericals here on this blog someone brought access you may call this ads, call it what you wish!
Back to Andy,You did ask the question which job did Andy Mc Intyre have then? When your family owns more then one company do you list every company or the primary one. I think he was trying to show he manages a company involved in water, however the family has a management company that manages all there businesses and property.
West Covina Resident 2: You have unbelievably bad grammar. I suggest typing out your comments first in a word processor that has a "spell checker" and then copying your comments into this comment box. You come across as an idiot when you cannot even use the correct version of "their".
For your information West Covina Resident 2:
You use the word 'there' when referencing a place either in the abstract or in real terms. Ex: "My keys are over thereā or "It is very hard to live there."
The word "their" is a possessive adjective. It shows possession of a certain noun within a sentence. Ex: "My friends have lost their tickets to the game."
Finally, "they're" is a contraction (a combination) of the words "they" and "are". It is a modifier and a verb. Ex: "They're not voting for Andrew McIntyre!" or "I'm glad that they're nice here."
I hope this helps West Covina Resident 2! The next time you post we can talk about correct sentence structure.
