The San Gabriel Valley Tribune published article today about an iconic building on the Cal Poly campus in Pomona that serves as a Classroom/Laboratory/Administration complex.

The building was completed in 1993 has now suffered water leaks and needs major seismic upgrades.

Furthermore, Cal Poly took legal action against the contractor, but declined to say how much they recovered in the legal proceedings.

Serious questions should be asked about the building, the contractor and Cal Poly should disclose the settlement costs.  Does the Public Records Act provide for the public to force Cal Poly to disclose the numbers?

Perhaps the legislature should open up hearings through an investigative committee on the matter along with the State Auditor's office.  After all, the taxpayers money must be protected, because at the end of the day it is the taxpayers that ends up footing the bill for any neglect and/or poor decision making by bureaucrats.

Unfortunately, the students will suffer due to the poor decisions made by college officials and the contractor that constructed building to be razed in question.
