Curt Hagman, GOP Nominee for Assembly from the 60th AD, held his first fundraiser since winning the primary election last month.
The event was held at the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, which was a smashing success due to the awesome reception, good speaker and was well attended by roughly over 100 supporters.
Master of Ceremoines was led by Former State Senator/GOP Senate Leader Jim Brulte.
Former GOP Assembly Candidate Larry Dick congratulated and saluted Curt's win, which shows that Larry leaves no harm feelings after a long fought campaign. Mr. Dick led the Pledge of the Allegiance.
The key speaker was California State Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner, who reminded the audience that it is important to elect Hagman to the Assembly, because California needs leaders like Curt to solve critical problems now and not by delaying them.
Mr. Poizner gave an overview of what challenges lay ahead for the Golden State, by acknowledging that there will be difficulties, but reminded the importance of installing leaders to be problem solvers. Mr. Poizner touched on the area of education where about a decade ago, California was top of the charts, but today gives disappointing and gloomy picture on the dropout rates, spending per pupil dollars and academic standards where California is falling behind. However, the Insurance Commissioner stated very clearly that raising taxes is NOT the answer in either good or bad economic times.
Furthermore, Mr. Poizner gave the audience alarming numbers on the population growth by the year 2025 that California will have 50 Million residents and we need to be ready in the areas of housing, transportation and water infrastructure.
In understanding the numbers and the realities, Mr. Poizner is encouraged that there are capable and qualified GOP legislative candidates like Curt Hagman who are willing to step up to the plate by taking a leadership role to ensure that California can once again be Golden.
All indiciations are tonight that Steve Poizner is making inroads by reaching out to critical supporters as he make a possible run for Governor in 2010. Mr. Poizner is smart, wise and knows how to solve problems like any businessperson would.
The following elected officials attended tonight's for Curt Hagman fundrasier are: Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach, Assemblymembers Mike Duval (R-Yorba Linda) and Jim Silva (R-Huntington Beach), Villa Park Councilmember Deborah Pauly, Diamond Bar Councilmembers Steve Tye and Jack Tanaka, Walnut Councilmembers Mary Su and Nancy Tragarz, Claremont Councilmember Corey Calaycay, Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Donald Kurth, Mt. San Antonio College Trustee David Hall, Chino Hills Councilmember Ed Graham and Chino Mayor Dennis Yates.
