The only thing that has changed since we filed the assault and destruction of property complaint against Carpenters Local 1506 out of Los Angeles, CA is that the NLRB has revealed that the original charges were not where the best case against the the Carpenters lay. It is the testimony of the owner of the primary contractor and an employee that he (owner Steve Carlyle) was unable to freely access the place of a labor dispute due to protesters that were clogging a small courtyard with their overwhelming numbers.
The Press Release announcing the new complaint is below and the nightly news video can be found by clicking the picture of the video camera at this link.

Associated Builders & Contractors of Central California Files 2nd Unfair Labor Practice Charge with Federal Government Against "Shame On" Campaign
The Central California Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC), on the advice of the National Labor Relations Board, has filed a 2nd unfair labor practice charge against the Carpenters Union, including its Local 1506, which is based in Los Angeles, CA.
Like the first charge ABC filed, this one challenges union activities that took place on February 24 at the site of the Santa Barbara Business College. Based on the investigation into the first charge of assault and destruction of property, the NLRB has advised ABC that they find of greatest interest ABC's evidence that the picketers limited or completely blocked the ingress and/or egress (entering and exiting) to the college facility on the day in question.
"We're pleased that the National Labor Relations Board has investigated the trouble caused by the Carpenters Union's 'Shame On' campaign and discovered that the union may be violating earlier promises not to disrupt people's access to buildings.", says Kevin Korenthal, Spokesman for ABC Central California Chapter. "On the advice of our attorneys and the NLRB, we are redirecting our efforts from the original charge in order to pursue the blocking issues identified by NLRB. We have already filed the new charges".
As evidence of precedent, Attorneys for Associated Builders & Contractors of Central California (ABC) have asked NLRB to review with the new charge the Carpenters' previous settlement commitments and related determinations of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. In particular, the National Labor Relations Board has the authority to enforce its order in the courts where the Carpenters violate their settlement commitments, by engaging in misconduct including blocking employees from entering or exiting a place of business.
Many businesses in Bakersfield have complained that the "Shame On" campaign and corresponding picketing/bannering have disrupted the normal flow of business and have made it difficult for employees and customers to enter and exit their buildings. The new charge helps to specifically address this aspect of the problem that the "Shame On" campaigns have posed to the citizens of Bakersfield.
A copy of the complaint and Court of Appeals Ruling is available for review.
