MTA offers $735 Million for Gold Line extension....IF

It makes one scratch their heads on this one:  sweeten the pot to ante the spending proposal by extending the MTA Gold Line further to Claremont. 

However, the catch is:  IF the voters of Los Angeles County approve half-cent sales tax increase on the November 2008 ballot.

Unfortunately, it sounds like "carrot on the stick" approach, but the taxpayers could end up getting a rotten carrot on the deal.
