Shame on UTLA! Pocketbook first, students education second

UTLA (United Teachers of Los Angeles) should be ashamed for putting personal pocketbooks and politics ahead of the education and welfare of the thousands of students attending Los Angeles Unified School District.
The foul cry over state budget cuts is a smear propaganda campaign by the union leaders that have mislead the public, parents and taxpayers.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has proposed NO cuts in the state budget for education and funding under Proposition 98 remains intact! In fact, the state budget numbers reflect a $193-million INCREASE over last year's $56.6 billion in education funding.
Also, one has to wonder why did Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Yaffe declined request by LAUSD for injunction to prevent the staged walkout by UTLA. The public should demand Judge Yaffe to explain his reasons IMMEDIATELY.
UTLA President A.J. Duffy rejoiced on the planned walkouts as "a great day for the teachers of L.A." Quite frankly, Mr. Duffy neglected to realize the ramifications on the importance of Education for the students.
Ironically, the Union decided to pick June 6th date, which is the 64th Anniversary of D-Day Invasion on Normandy Beach in France and 30th Anniversary on the landmark approval of Proposition 13. It begs the question if any of the students are aware of the importance of this day, perhaps not, the UTLA decided that history lesson should take a backseat.
Therefore, UTLA gets a "Failing Grade" in today's effort by putting student's education at the backburner!
