E-bay campaign donation to Rep. Richardson

It was fascinating to scan over Rep. Laura Richardson's (D-Long Beach) campaign finance reports for Congress.
It was bit disturbing to find that "e-bay Inc. Committee for Responsible Internet Commerce" gave $2,000 to DEMOCRAT Laura Richardson. The date of this donation was on December 27, 2007.
Then, a Press Release from e-bay dated January 23, 2008 announcing that Meg Whitman is stepping down:
Meg Whitman to Step Down as President and CEO of e-bay
We all have heard that Meg Whitman name has been floating around for a possible run for statewide office here in California . Many of us thought she would be a good candidate. However, in light of this donation, it may NOT sit well with many Republicans.
Whether or not Meg Whitman is responsible for this PAC is irrelevant, what is relevant is that e-bay gave money to Laura Richardson, who is under scrunity over her foreclosed homes and unpaid bills to auto shop in the Long Beach area. Question is: Why?
It would be wise for Mrs. Whitman to give her explanation on this one.
