It would be wise to kick this subject up a notch, though Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R-Newport Beach) has already addressed this matter relative to AB 1996 here on RedCounty, but Assemblyman Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) has sent out a Press Release on the subject.

It is high time to blast the Assembly Democrats for voting YES. Furthermore, It is too funny that the new Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D-Culver City) has only been on the job for a week and it begs the question: Is this what she TRULY wants to start off her new tenure as Speaker?
Unfortunately, AB 1996 is a slap to the hard working California taxpayers and it does definitely undermines welfare reform.
We can only hope that Governor Schwarzenegger hears the outcry on this travesty and VETO AB 1996 when it reaches his desk.

I am a veteran. I am also a 51 yr. old single woman with no children. I was told by CA human services that I didn't qualify for assistance. I am service connected so now I do get healthcare thru the VA. Why should a felon get assistance of any kind before I or others like me can? AB1996 stinks big!
