2009 Local Elections - Too Early?

Posted by: Allen Wilson | 04/03/2008 7:14 PM

The statewide primary election in June and the Presidential election in November are two to seven months away.  Although, the consolidated local elections slated for November 2009 is longways to go in Los Angeles County.

However, Walnut Valley Water Board Member, Ling Ling Chang, is starting her candidacy for the Diamond Bar City Council by anxiously getting a VERY early start.

I received this e-mail communication from Ms. Chang as to why she is running:

"Yes, a number of Diamond Bar residents have encouraged me to run for City Council, and I am seriously considering a run in 2009.  I believe that I can make some great changes and improvements for Diamond Bar (as I have done on the Water Board)."

One would think that we need to get through two elections in 2008, especially the critical Presidential elections in November, before any local candidate get ahead start at the gate.

Stay tuned....

Good grief! What's wrong with a little clarity?

As a private citizen, I would like to express how refreshing it is to have a competent, professional woman with a record of civic accomplishment be forthright in her desire to continue to serve the community. Possibly in a different position than she currently holds.

The sooner the potential candidate put their names out in public, the better it is.
