Today, George Skelton, columnist for the Los Angeles Times, wrote an article about the new GOP Minority Leader Senator Dennis Hollingsworth (R-Murietta) entitled "GOP's soft-spoken, hard-line leader".

At the beginning, one would think it seems like a good article by giving the readers an overview of the new leader, but I was aghast in how Mr. Skelton sums up his interview with Senator Hollingsworth in the last paragraph:

There must be some analogy here about how selling bull semen prepares one to handle political bull, but it escapes me.

Then, I immediately e-mailed Mr. Skelton by reminding him that there is no need to slam at the GOP Senate Leader's expense for Mr. Skelton's amusement.

Mr. Skelton e-mail back to me by stating that it was "...an attempt at dry humor..." and he went on by saying "I wrote about selling bull semen because I thought it was interesting.  How many people do you know or even heard of who sold bull semen?  It wasn't about putting him down"

I reminded Mr. Skelton that dry humor has no place in print publication of a newspaper as large as "The Los Angeles Times".

We need to give dignity and respect for those that are willing to put themselves in the political arena, instead of being so crass just because it is the hope of bringing more readers to the largest newspaper on the West Coast, which becoming more and more irrelevant.

Mr. Skelton cutely went on by stating that "Well, I wasn't slamming the guy.  And I don't believe he or his staff thought so either.

Is Mr. Skelton serious thinking that Senator Hollingsworth and his staff lives in a bubble and think it would just go away?  Well, his lack of judgment by astertaining child's play does not sit well with this contributor, because we know how all human beings think and operate.

Therefore, just a word of caution to all Republican legislators in Sacramento, who wishes an interview with Mr. Skelton, do not be wishful, because the next time Mr. Skelton pens something to your benefit, which may ends up being a full of bull.
