Kudos To Five Justices

Kudos to Justices Alito, Kennedy, Roberts, Scalia, and Thomas for upholding the American values of hard work and merit in the Ricci vs. DiStefano case.  In a 5-4 vote, these wise Supreme Court justices rejected the identity politics of Justices Breyer, Ginsburg, Souter, and Stevens.  However, in America this legal decision should have been a 9-0 vote.

Unsurprisingly, when this case was being heard in a lower court, Sonia Sotomayor sided with the city of New Haven, CT., which endorsed reverse discrimination against white firefighters. Unfortunately, there still are activist judges who believe arbitrary numbers of educational and employment slots and/or promotions should be filled according to gender, or race instead of on qualifications and skills.

In this high court case, common sense prevailed and the ideal of civil rights and fairness for all Americans came through.  This is what America is all about.  Speaking to reporters from New Haven's city hall, firefighter Frank Ricci stated it quite simply, "If you work hard, you can succeed in America."  If only more folks on the Left could absorb this lesson.
