Nice Move
By Keith Carlson | 08/29/08
John McCain has captured the media's attention on a day, even a long weekend, that was scheduled to be "All Obama, All the Time." Following last night's speech--which now seems like it happened a week ago--McCain announced his V.P. choice--Gov. Sarah Palin, of Alaska. This is a bold and seemingly brilliant pick. She has more executive experience than the entire Democratic ticket. She is very strong on both social and... read more »

The California Republican Party just concluded an exciting and successful convention in San Francisco. In addition to nearly doubling the population of GOP'ers in SF, it had a lot of developments connected to the OC. First, the Board of Directors met. By Keith Carlson | 10/29/07
Not wanting to miss out on all the recall fun over the last year or so, Huntington Beach City School District is looking to jump in. What is prompting this is a looming decision to sell off four school sites to developers; they call it "asset management" on their website. Call it what you want, it is not too popular with the locals. Compounding the problem is that two of the sites have leases with private... read more »

Just Wondering
By Keith Carlson | 08/24/07
I am sure most folks know that the GOP Presidential primary is now by congressional district rather than by state-wide vote. So a candidate can win delegates in various CD's even if he doesn't win the entire state vote. The Republican Party's move was designed to draw more candidates, and interest, to the state. That, along with the earlier primary, seems to be working. It will be a lot tougher for someone to 'win'... read more »

Changes at the OCR
By Keith Carlson | 08/22/07
For those of you that don't get your news and views exclusively from Red County--doubt it is many of you, but Red County doesn't have much of a Sports Section--it looks like there will be a new sheriff in town at the OC Register. The OCR and LAT are reporting that N. Christian Anderson III is leaving. He's been the OCR's publisher since 1999. The replacement will be Terry Horne, publisher of the East Valley Tribune in Mesa,... read more »
