Congress has NO Restraints on Spending
By Ken Campbell | 10/10/07
Jeff had a link to my Sunday Auburn Journal column, but I thought I would post the whole column. As everyone knows, I have repeatedly asked for a defense of Congressman Doolittle's wasteful and irresponsible spending of taxpayer's money. In short, despite the lame excuses, silly spin, tortured logic and convoluted thinking, there is no defense. The second question I always asked was by what authority does Congress wastefully and... read more »

Dinner with Congressman Istook
By Ken Campbell | 10/05/07
Last weekend my wife and I were in Salt Lake City, Utah. On Saturday night we had dinner with our dear friends former Oklahoma Congressman Ernest Istook and his lovely and gracious wife, Judy. Congressman Istook served in Congress for 14 years and unsuccessfully ran for governor of Oklahoma. Ernest is now a Distinguished Fellow at The Heritage Foundation. Our conversation ended up talking about Congress's wasteful and... read more »

Stand with Doolittle, then defend his pork!
By Ken Campbell | 10/04/07
I am sorry I have to repeat this for the fourth time, but if you "Stand with Doolittle" then defend his votes on pork! Defend the fact that Club for Growth Repork Card showed that Congressman Doolittle's voting record is identical to the average big-spending Liberal Democrat. I will simply paste my September post below so those "Standing with Doolittle" can defend these votes. Come on, Defend the Pork This is... read more »

Romney Hits the Nail on the Head
By Ken Campbell | 09/25/07
"Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney challenged his political party Monday to "get its house in order," rein in its own congressional spending and set better standards for ethical conduct. "Washington has been broken. ... Washington hasn't gotten the job done," Romney said at a forum hosted by the San Jose-Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. "We're always pointing fingers at the other party. But you know,... read more »

Come on, Defend the Pork
By Ken Campbell | 09/21/07
This is getting a little silly, this is the third time I have asked for a Doolittle supporter to defend his votes on pork. For a while I gave some grace, it was summer and people may be on vacation. Or maybe people were getting ready to go back to school or maybe they were getting their kids ready to go to school... maybe they were out washing their car... I don't know. Jeff Flint blogged to say Doolittle's pork votes could not... read more »

CAGW: Doolittle is "Unfriendly" to Taxpayers
By Ken Campbell | 09/17/07
I picked up my mail on Saturday and found the "Government Waste Watch" put out by Citizens Against Government Waste. This issue was entitled the "Congressional Ratings Issue". I quickly thumbed through it to see how our Congressman John Doolittle fared. Congressman Doolittle received a 23% or "unfriendly" to taxpayers. Had Congressman Doolittle scored 4 points lower, he would have been labeled... read more »

Conservatives on the Move
By Ken Campbell | 09/14/07
A huge congratulation to Placers own Karen England and Meredith Turney for, just in the last few weeks, starting 4 new California Republican Assembly Clubs. There are two kinds of people, those who want to be and those who do. The ones who be take a position to warm a seat, pretend to be important (and they are important, just ask them), and they will tell you all the things they do and... read more »

Defend the Pork
By Ken Campbell | 09/12/07
Over two weeks ago, in this blog, I pointed out that Republicans lost control of Congress, in part, because they could not control their spending. Big spending Republicans (about 1/2 of the Republicans in the House) apparently did not learn this lesson, and they have continued in their big spending ways. If these big spending Republicans do not come to grips with their spending addiction, Republicans will again get whacked in... read more »

Debate Night: Governor Perry vs. Governor Schwarzeneger
By Ken Campbell | 09/11/07
Back from the CRP Convention in Palm Springs, I have been reflecting on what turned out to be the Friday night debate between Texas Governor Rick Perry and Governor Schwarzenegger. Figuring "what the heck, I need to eat anyway," I bought a dinner ticket for the Friday night dinner. Afterwards I realized I paid (gulp) $95. This better be good! I walked in, as the dinner was starting, immediately noticing the sparse crowd... read more »

Is Ted's congressional run for real?
By Ken Campbell | 09/05/07
For those of us in Placer County, it was no surprise that Ted Gaines formed an "exploratory" committee to "explore" a run for Congress; but will that translate into an actual run for Congress? Maybe. Jon Fleischman revealed the poll numbers that we have been told Ted has. And those poll numbers do indeed show John Doolittle cannot beat Charlie Brown in the General Election. The other half of the poll... read more »
