Gays to Anti-R-71 Camp: "You were Right, this IS about Marriage"
By Larry Stickney | 11/18/09 | 02:40 AM EDT | 3 Comments
Not that we didn't expect it, but the R-71 campaign was handicapped by the bias of our incredibly liberal and increasingly shameless statewide media complex. Like a mantra, the ACCEPT R-71 campaign's talking points were reflexively repeated by nearly every Washington State newspaper, radio, and TV station. How many times did we hear or read that "SB 5688 and R-71 is not about marriage, but domestic partnerships...period"?
While we live in difficult times, the truth still comes out in the wash. While browsing through R-71 articles posted on the web, I found an honest column written by the other side - printed a week AFTER Election Day, of course.

As we were warned during the R-71 campaign, our state's Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is now vulnerable in the courts due to the passage of SB 5688 via R-71. Count on the homosexual lobby to work every possible legal angle to achieve same-sex marriage by judicial fiat in the coming months.
Washington conservatives should take heart; the battle for marriage and family values in Washington State is far from over. Despite University of Washington polls showing overwhelming support for either same-sex marriage or domestic partnerships prior to Election Day on Nov. 3, our opponents barely reached a 53% majority statewide, and would have been soundly beaten were it not for the greater Seattle vote!
While there are those on our side who seem to have tired of the fight and now openly advocate a full scale retreat on important issues like same-sex marriage, the Protect Marriage Washington PAC and the Washington Values Alliance and their allies are more determined than ever to dig in and fight for all that is good and right in our home state of Washington.
These organizations intend to continue their efforts to organize, empower, and embolden a genuine pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-family political movement all across Washington!
With a major referendum drive and an extremely important U.S. Supreme Court case under their belts in less than one year (click here to read syndicated columnist George Will's article on R-71 as appeared in the Washington Post and hundreds of major newspapers across the nation) these groups have proven their effectiveness on the political battlefield.
YOU WILL BE HEARING FROM THE WASHINGTON VALUES ALLIANCE IN THE COMING WEEKS AND DURING THE 2010 LEGISLATIVE SESSION IN OLYMPIA!

Well, PMW did prove its ability to scare away its own potential donors by telling them they'd be hunted down and harassed or even killed by Evil Gays. PMW also proved its ability to lose a state-wide referendum (including Stickney's own Snoho. Co., no less) that it assured all and sundry was winnable, and help publicize the severe split between the Gary Randall/Larry Stickney faction and the Fuiten faction. So in those things, yes, PMW was proven quite effective. Congrats. I look forward to the promised encore in Olympia.
Larry, Pay no attention to the naysayers. You guys were awesome! The other side may have won by a small margin, but they now know that they have zilch for support outside of commie King County! So much for their phony claim that they had 70% support statewide! You exposed their agenda and they know it!
Larry, You guys did a terrific job on the R-71 campaign. Your team at Protect Marriage Washington brought out the truth and exposed the real plans of the homosexual militants. You took on the entire Democrat/Media complex and their political establishment and nearly won. The small margin of victory for the ACCEPT R-71 side cannot conceal the fact that they got their butts kicked big-time outside of commie King County and they know it! Keep up the good work and keep getting the truth out.
