The numbers were in a few weeks ago for how the OC Legislators did on the fundraising circuit during the period between the beginning of the year and June 30.

Jeff Miller - $138,124

Jim Silva - $110,409

Curt Hagman - $101,392

Diane Harkey - $98,690

Mike Duvall - $77,995

*I didn’t include Van Tran or Chuck DeVore, as they’re running for other (federal) offices, and thus are hard to compare apples-to-apples.

Three things that stood out to me:

1)      The strength of Miller’s fundraising. He did a great job of bringing in the dollars during his Assembly race, even of dollars from Orange County. Heck, he might’ve even beat Blais toe-to-toe in fundraising from within OC. Looks like that has carried over to the Assembly.

2)      The relative strength of Jim Silva's fundraising. More of a low-key guy, Silva shows some decent numbers. I guess being on the powerful G.O. Committee helps even the most mild of mannered.

3)      The weakness of Mike Duvall. For a guy with a personality that could fill the Big A, this fundraising showing is surprisingly very weak.

Veteran Political Consultant Tim Clark likes to say that “Money is the Number One indicator of success in politics,” and thus it’s always important to keep track of who can raise it.
