Forced Confessions in Iran
By Michael Kerr | 07/08/09 | 02:40 PM EDT | 1 Comment
It is being reported that Iranian authorities are using interrogations, beatings and sleep deprivation to force "confessions" from opposition supporters.
Human Rights Watch, an international human rights group, has gathered information on specific accounts of torture including one from a 17-year-old who was forced to sign a blank confession, which officials would manufacture later.
President Obama's "stand" on this issue is a monumental disappointment, and his empty rhetoric is no substitute for much needed leadership.
"All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing."
Edmund Burke.
