Food Stamp Follow-Up

Previously on RedCounty and on WMD (here, here, and here), I talked about an email I received from someone who worked in the food stamp distibution business at the county level. Over the weekend and the last few days, the story has been picked up by a few mainstream media outlets (Cincinnati Enquirer here, and Dayton Daily News here and here) and it has stirred up some discussion about the effect the food stamp program has on county budgets.
State Representative Shannon Jones has decided that she is going to try and fix it and plans to introduce legislation in the Ohio House to do just that. Meanwhile, Warren County commissioners have started asking questions and directed the administrator of the program to contact the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to start figuring out if the county can legally pull out of the program.
Naturally, we are following this one very closely and will report on further developments.
