Congressman Tom Davis was my County Supervisor prior to his
countywide election as Chairman. He is the only Republican
I ever gave money to. That is because he was, as far as I
could tell, a man of complete integrity and interested in
what was good for all of the people--not just those who had
deep pockets.
In Davis's retiring, Congress and the nation as a whole have
lost a true statesman. I know that politics has been his
life since he was a teenage page. It is sad that our
government's composition has become such that a dedicated
public servant such as Tom Davis chooses to leave the work
that has been his life, and at which he was so good.
