Evergreen State Fair Was A Major Flop!

Why? This investigative blogger wanted to find out.
This whole issue began with one of the most idiotic stories I have ever seen from the awful Everett Herald (widely regarded as one of the worst newspapers in the state). Ron Latimore of Snohomish was trying to be nice when he wrote this letter to the “Bailed out, out of town owned, Washington Post’s” Everett Herald.
I have heard so many complaints about Aaron Reardon raising all the prices at the Evergreen State Fair, I decided to investigate. I went to the following sites: Site One, Site Two.
Taking all of this information into account I did all the calculations and decided to find out what the heck is going on. OK, I am a family of 2 adults and 2 kids and we want to go to the Evergreen State Fair! We pull into the parking lot and find a space to park after paying $10.00 (I am going to keep a running total here). We march up to the front gate and purchase tickets for the family at a cost of $34. On top of that we want the kids to enjoy the rides so we purchase a roll of tickets for those rides and that comes to $25. Now we march into the fair and now we have spent a total of $69!
Now during the time we are having fun at the fair we buy 5 sodas, 2 cotton candy’s, 4 hamburgers plus french fries and that totals up to be: $46. We have now spent a grand total of $115. We also buy two tickets for a raffle for the car they are giving away, admission to see one of the shows and on the way out we buy two T shirts and some other goodies for the kids for a total of $35. Now the running total comes to $150.
We are currently in one of the worst recessions in Snohomish County since the Great Depression as I recently wrote about. So why has Snohomish County jacked up the prices so high when almost 66,000 people are unemployed? By the way, the weather was FAR WORSE last year than it was this year.
Hello, County Executive Reardon: simply reduce the fair costs and you will increase the number of people who will come to the fair. Go it?

I did NOT go to the Fair this year because of the anticipated costs. Well taken point.

|Many of the vendors at the fair did so badly they say they won't be back next year. The county takes up to 20% of their gross. All those costs are then passed on so you are looking at an $8.00 sandwich.
