I agree 100% with Mike Long on this one. The Governor started by saying the State of the State is Perilous... "Perilous"-adjective involving or full of grave risk or peril; hazardous; dangerous:

But then after this he said it is a time for hope? Hope for what? Hope that the legislators will get their heads out of their nether regions and begin to actually represent the PEOPLE of this state? Hope that Sheldon Silver will resign? Hope that the Public sector unions will give in and help this state save costs and realize they are at the root of the economic problems we have here in New York? Hope that finally realizing that the WELFARE state and the excessive spending on Medicaid will be reformed and cut down to size or even cut down to at least the National average? Hope that we will see reforms in the Wicks Law, the Tribourough Amendment, the Taylor Law?

No, we shall have hope that the Federal Government will bail out the state.... What the hell kind of hope is that? Another influx of cash to bail out the state once more, and one that will not fix what ails us and that is the complete and utterly dysfunctional Albany Legislature. There was NOTHING new said today, nothing. What a disgrace.

Governor's State of the State Lets New Yorkers Down

Ft. Hamilton Station, NY -- Conservative Party State Chairman, Michael R. Long reacted to Governor Paterson's State of the State today by saying "At a time when we're facing the largest budget shortfall in New York history, Governor Paterson, in his State of the State failed to deal with the real crisis: Spending!"

"In an hour long address, Governor Paterson failed the residents of this great state, by refusing to call for the necessary changes in the wasteful spending habits of the Legislature. Instead of reaching out to the Members, and giving specifics, Governor Paterson continued on the same spending mantra heard in the past. "

"Governor Paterson - Washington, DC can not bail out New York, our Legislature must cut its spending and unfortunately, you did not emphasize the need to do so in your State of the State address," Long concluded.
