Yesterday, a sales representative for a helmet manufacturer was in our store and we were discussing the the new CPSIA lead law.  He told us that his company had their children's helmets tested and they just barely passed the maximum lead content allowed by the new law.  He said that the helmets themselves passed well under the maximum.  What almost pushed them over was the lead content in the ink of the federal government issued Department of Transportation sticker, which is required by a different federal law.
