BIOGRAPHY

As an adult I have remained active in politics as both a paid staff member and Republican Party activist. I am a well educated political activist with a deep understanding of South Carolina’s political scene as well as national politics.

In 1995 I graduated from the University of South Carolina (BA Political Science/Minor History). In 2002 I graduated from the Carolina School of Broadcasting (Charlotte, N.C.) where I learned the technical aspects of radio and television production.  In 1995 I accepted my first full time staff position on a political campaign.  The campaign was the 1995 Dole/Kemp for President if the United States.  While with Dole/Kemp I served as first Office Manager and later traveled the country doing Advance for both Bob and Elizabeth Dole.

1997-1999: I served as Political Aid, to United States Congressman Charlie Norwood (Augusta, Georgia). This was a very rewarding position working for a man I had more respected more than words can express. In 2006 I accepted the position of Campaign Manager for kirkman Finley for City Council (Columbia, S.C.) Kirkman easily won after his opponent withdrew from the race.

In 2006 I accepted the position of Communications Director & Deputy Campaign Manager for Jim Feldcamp for U.S. Congress (Eugene, Oregon). Difficult people but the experience and people made very worthwhile.

ACALADES:

2008: Elected Delegate to the Republican National Convention (St Paul, Minnesota)

2009: VICE CHAIRMAN, Chester County Republican Party

         CHAIRMAN, Piedmont Young Republicans

Elected National Delegate to the Federation of Young Republicans National Convention

Congressman Joe Wilson: Join me and donate to his re-election campaign

By Drew Johnson | 09/12/09

DONATE  NOW I have known U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson since he was a South Carolina State Senator and I was a student at the University of South Carolina. While I would have preferred he not have blurted out his now famous phrase during a joint session of Congress, I continue to stand with him. The fact remains that that President Obama was not telling the truth.   President Obama stated Wednesday night ... read more »

Congress John Spratt (D-SC-5th) Town Hall Thursday at 5pm

By Drew Johnson | 09/02/09

Congressman John Spratt recently announced he would hold a town hall to discuss healthcare. This was a drastic change to his position prior to the Republican sponsored town hall that attracted over 500 concerned citizens. I applaud Congressman Spratt for choosing to hold a public forum on this critical issue.  I urge him to assure the voters of the 5th Congressional District that he will oppose a public option/co-ops and any single payer... read more »

By Drew Johnson | 08/19/09

As socialized healthcare continues to be the hot issue around the country, Congressman John Spratt (SC- 5th) continues to dodge the voters here in the district. He appears to have no intention of directly engaging his constitutes in any kind of forum. Personally, I would be eager to defend my position if I were advocating a piece of legislation that would have a profound impact on the lives of all Americans.  The Obama... read more »

Actions From The White House Disturbing!

By Drew Johnson | 08/06/09

I found news reports this evening incredibly disturbing. Does anyone else find it astonishing that the White House is asking individuals to report misinformation to the White House on healthcare? The problem is that we are not discussing “misinformation” but a political disagreement with President Obama and the Democratic majority in Congress. The President spent an hour on national television dispensing... read more »

Congressman John Spratt (D-SC-5th) Has No Plans For Any Town Hall Meetings1

By Drew Johnson | 08/04/09

The entire country continues to debate healthcare reform at a fevered pitch.  The debate will, and should, only increase in volume throughout the August recess. The stakes could not be any higher. The Democratic Bill (H.R. 3200 America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009)will drastically change the manner in which healthcare is administered in this country.   Private industry cannot compete with the Federal Government and... read more »
