Dear Mainstream Media, When Will you Accurately Report on ACORN?
By Michael Kerr | 10/21/09 | 04:45 PM EDT | 4 Comments
Dear Mainstream Media,
When are you going to report on the facts regarding ACORN, (i.e., the offender) rather than focusing on the whistle blowers? You sat on this story until it became too big to ignore and when you finally did report on it, your focus was on the messenger. Turns out, the messenger has even more evidence which directly refutes claims made by ACORN, which you were all too happy to parrot. Do your political considerations trump responsible journalism? They certainly seem to take precedence over any sliver of credibility you are afforded by those who simply don't know any better. Wake Up!
The mainstream media has largely turned a blind eye to the ACORN controversy. The first network news organization to cover the story on the evening news was CBS on September 15, which happened to be the same day that the U.S. Senate voted 83-7 to deny ACORN federal housing funds. The New York Times sat on the story until September 16th.
Today, Andrew Breitbart released another ACORN video on BigGovernment.com. The video shows the filmmakers at ACORN’s Philadelphia office. It’s important to note that ACORN has claimed to have thrown the filmmakers out of their Philadelphia offices. This latest video clearly contradicts the claims ACORN made to Media Matters regarding the events that took place in the City of Brotherly Love.
The mainstream media was quick to report on ACORN’s insistence that the filmmakers were kicked out in Philadelphia. They bought this narrative hook, line and sinker. This latest video dispels any questions concerning ACORN's credibility. We'll see if the media decides to step up to try and rehab theirs.
*Because of strict two way notifications laws in Philadelphia regarding taped conversation, the audio by the ACORN employee was omitted.

The media will continue to turn turn a blind eye on this. Their politics take precedence over everything else.

|You are absolutely right. The mainstream media are far more interested in their own political agenda than accurately reporting news. They are a big part of the reason we are in the mess we are in.

|Properly noted - however, to fully appreciate the implications of what you are asking, you need to put yourslef in our shoes - You know the warnings sent loud and clear by the White House - Thou Shall Not be Critical, or else....
