CRP's Executive Committe Meeting Has Been Called

Chairman Ron Nehring just called the meeting for the party's Executive Committee.  It is the committee tasked with deciding the party's official positions on the measures--including Prop 1A--for the upcoming election.  This has the the source of a lot of discussion since the CRP's Board of Directors meeting last week.  John and Ken, for example, have talked about scheduling this ExCom meeting every day since last week.  The Board of Directors (with only 3 'no' votes) urged the ExCom to oppose Prop 1A last Friday.

If the party is to spend money, campaign, mail, etc. against (or for) these measures, the ExCom must take an official position.  To date, the party is not on record pro or con.  This meeting should clear things up.

The committee itself has not been fully made up, as the new CRP term started just last month.  Chairman Nehring has some 40+ appointments to the ExCom, which the Board must first approve.  That meeting is likely to occur next week.

The ExCom will be held on April 18th; location to be determined.  I'll keep you posted.

Did this happen because Koblyt started getting nasty today?

No, the email went out from

No, the email went out from the Chairman before Koblyt did his thing I believe.  It had been in the works for a few days anyhow--but I imagine John and Ken will take credit for it!

How is something like this

How is something like this "in the works" for days? Why didn't he just call the meeting at the conclusion of the board of directors meeting. Whether John & Ken are responsible or not, it sure looks that way. This could have been avoided if Nhering had acted more swiftly. Now what about all of the CRP money that has gone into supporting 1A? See http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/nov05election/detail?entry_id=37369
